An apparatus configured to be placed about an implantable medical device having a face with a geometric center offset from a center of a recharge coil of the device includes first and second opposing major exterior surfaces, and a continuous exterior side surface joining the first and second opposing major exterior surfaces. A cavity is defined between, and an opening is formed by, the first and second major surfaces and the continuous side surface. The opening is in communication with the cavity and is configured to allow the device to access the cavity. An asymmetric region, adjacent to the cavity, is formed between a portion of the first and second major surfaces and the continuous side surface. The asymmetric region is configured to shift the geometric center of the combined apparatus and device, when the device is received in the cavity, towards the center of the recharge coil.

Accessory apparatus for improved recharging of implantable medical device

A connector header includes a housing formed from a plastic material having a modulus of rigidity of 100 ksi or greater. The housing defines an opening for insertion of a lead. The connector header further includes a lead receptacle having an electrically conductive element. The electrically conductive element is operably couplable to a feedthrough of the implantable medical device. The lead receptacle is in communication with the opening and is disposed within the housing such that an electrical contact of the lead is electrically couplable to the conductive element of the receptacle when the lead is inserted into the receptacle.

Connector header for implantable medical device

An apparatus for managing a lead of an implantable medical device includes a lead retention element and a fixation element. The lead retention element has a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end. The lumen is configured to slidably receive the lead. The fixation element is configured to fix the lead retention element relative to the implantable medical device in an orientation orthogonal to a lead receptacle of the device such that the proximal end of the lead retention element is closer to an opening of the lead receptacle than the distal end of the retention element. The distal end of the lead retention element is configured to firmly engage the lead to resist proximal sliding of the lead in the lumen of the retention element once the lead has been moved distally through the lumen.

Implantable lead management

A form for retaining a battery in implantable medical device includes outer edge and first and second opposing major surfaces. The first major surface of the form includes a recess, a ridge disposed between the recess and the outer edge, and a trough forming element disposed between the ridge and the outer edge. The ridge is configured to engage at least a portion of a major surface of the battery retained in the form. The trough forming element has first and second edge surfaces positioned to engage an edge surface of the retained battery to form a trough configured to receive adhesive. The recess is disposed adjacent the ridge and is configured to allow for expansion of the retained battery during recharge. The retention assembly is configured to secure the first major surface of the battery against the ridge to prevent adhesive from leaking from the trough into the recess.

Form for retaining battery in implantable medical device

An implantable medical device having a case with therapeutic componentry contained with the case. A module has a rail around at least a portion of a perimeter of the module and is adapted to be mechanically secured to the case. The case has a rigid fastening channel adapted to receive the rail of the module. The rigid fastening channel has an opening allowing the rail of the module to drop into the rigid fastening channel through the opening and then slide along the rigid fastening channel to be mechanically secured to the case.

Battery isolator for implantable medical device

A method of overmolding a substrate having a first side and a second side and a product made by that process. A plurality of support feet are placed on the first side of the substrate. The substrate is placed in an injection mold. The mold is filled with a molding material with the molding material enveloping both the first side and the second side of the substrate. The substrate is removed having been overmolded from the injection mold.

Method of overmolding a substrate

A method of laminating a sheet or sheets to a substrate and a method of laminating a plurality of articles. The substrate is inserted into a press. The sheet is inserted into the press over the substrate. Liquid thermoset polymer is injected into the press. Heat and pressure are applied forcing the liquid thermoset polymer against the sheet and forcing the sheet against the substrate. The liquid thermoset polymer is allowed to cure under heat and pressure forming a cured silicone rubber sheet. The cured silicone rubber sheet is removed from the press. A plurality of articles may be laminated by laminating the second of the articles while the first article is cooling.

Method of laminating articles

A lead retention assembly for an implantable medical device includes (i) a conductive set screw and (ii) a housing defining an opening for receiving at least a portion of the set screw. The assembly further includes a block disposed within the housing. The block defines a lead receiving bore and a second bore extending generally perpendicular to and intersecting with the lead receiving bore. The assembly further includes a conductive lead engagement member having a lead engagement feature. The lead engagement feature is disposed within and movable within the second bore such that advancement of the set screw causes the lead engagement feature to move within the second bore towards the lead receiving bore. The set screw is electrically isolated from the conductive lead engagement member.

A method includes (i) placing about a first alignment pin a first lead receptacle having a conductive portion, and (ii) placing about a second alignment pin a second lead receptacle having a conductive portion. The method further includes placing the first and second lead receptacles on a restraining fixture and attaching and electrically coupling a first conductor of a one piece lead frame pin assembly to the conductive portion of the first receptacle. The lead frame pin assembly has a tab element connecting the first conductor to a second conductor. The first and second conductors each include a feedthrough coupling portion. The method also includes attaching and electrically coupling the second conductor of the lead frame assembly to the conductive portion of the second receptacle. The lead receptacle and pin assembly may be inserted into a connector header.

A laminate having a plurality of layers of magnetic material sandwiched together having a first side and a second side and a method of making the laminate. The plurality of layers of magnetic material having a plurality of radial grooves. A first insulative layer applied over the first side of the plurality of layers of magnetic material. A lead wire applied to over first insulative layer at a predetermined location on the first side of the plurality of layers of magnetic material. A second insulative layer applied to the first side of the plurality of layers of magnetic material over the lead wire. A third insulative layer applied to the second side of the plurality of layers of magnetic material. Thus, the laminate is ready to receive a coil.
