Techniques are disclosed for reducing interference, in a network device, among multiple radio circuits operating in a same or similar frequency band and in close physical proximity. In some embodiments, a network device includes a first and a second wireless network circuit. The network circuits operate in a same radio frequency band and are collocated. The second network circuit is assigned a higher priority than the first network circuit. The device further includes a coexistence controller coupled to the network circuits via a communication bus and configured to selectively suppress transmitting operations of the first network circuit during receiving operations of the second network circuit. Among other benefits, the embodiments can increase wireless network bandwidth and reduce mobile device power consumption by providing coordination among the radio circuits so that the transmitting and receiving operations are performed in a way that they do not interfere with their respective antennas.

The invention is directed to a wireless communication device that includes: a radio unit for performing wireless communications with at least one external device; at least one battery for supplying power to the wireless communication device; and at least one processing unit for controlling the radio unit, wherein the at least one processing unit, includes: host processing unit configured to control execution of one or more active state operations; and a secondary processing unit, coupled to the host processing unit and the radio unit, configured to control execution of one or more low-priority operations while the host processing unit is powered down, wherein the secondary processing unit is further configured to determine if an active-state operation is pending, and if it is determined that an active state operation is pending, to power up the host processing unit to control execution of the active state operation.

In one embodiment, the invention provides a battery control unit for managing battery power supplied to a product, the battery control unit including: a first battery and a second battery coupled to each other in a parallel configuration, each of the first and second batteries having a negative terminal coupled to an electrical ground of the product; a first switch having a first terminal coupled to a positive terminal of the first battery and a second terminal coupled to a power terminal of the product; a second switch having a third terminal coupled to a positive terminal of the second battery and a fourth terminal coupled to the power terminal; a first voltage sense unit coupled to the positive terminal of the first battery for sensing a voltage at the positive terminal of the first battery; a second voltage sense unit coupled to the positive terminal of the second battery for sensing a voltage at the positive terminal of the second battery; a first control unit coupled to the first switch for controlling the first switch in response to the voltage sensed by the first voltage sense unit; and a second control unit coupled to the second switch for controlling the second switch in response to the voltage sensed by the second voltage sense unit.

System and method for management of battery power

The invention is directed to a radio unit contained within a housing of a wireless communication device or system, the radio unit including: a signal processing unit for performing one or more wireless protocol processing functions; a radio-frequency (RF) front end unit coupled to the signal processing unit; and a power unit coupled to the RF front end unit, wherein the power unit completely powers down the RF front end unit when the signal processing unit is in a sleep mode, and powers up the RF front end unit at a predetermined time before an anticipated reception of a RF signal transmitted by an external device.

The invention is directed to a wireless communication device that includes: a radio unit configured to provide two-way wireless communications; a host processing unit; and a sleep mode unit, coupled to the host processing unit and the radio unit, configured to control a sleep time of the host processing unit and the radio unit, wherein if the radio unit does not receive a signal from the access point that associates the wireless communication device with the access point, the sleep unit increases the sleep time of the host processing unit and the radio unit after each set of one or more failed attempts by the wireless communication device to associate with the access point.
