A vehicle suspension system may include a deadbeam extended between a first wheel at a first end of the deadbeam and a second wheel at a second end of the deadbeam, an electric motor disposed forward of the deadbeam, a lateral link operably coupling the deadbeam to a chassis of the vehicle, a first half shaft operably coupled to the first wheel and the electric motor, a second half shaft operably coupled to the second wheel and the electric motor, a first suspension assembly operably coupling the first wheel to the chassis, and a second suspension assembly operably coupling the second wheel to the chassis.

A suspension system for a vehicle may include a steering knuckle operably coupled to a wheel hub, and a plurality of links operably coupling the steering knuckle to a chassis of the vehicle. One of the links may be a trailing blade having a body portion that lies in a plane. The trailing blade may include a first end operably coupled to the steering knuckle and a second end operably coupled to the chassis. The trailing blade may extend from the first end to the second end such that the plane of the body portion forms an angle of greater than 5 degrees relative to a longitudinal axis of the vehicle.

Modular vehicle platforms are disclosed. An example modular platform includes a frame to couple to a body of a vehicle. A first bracket is coupled to the frame. One of a second bracket or a third bracket is coupled to the frame. The first bracket is spaced from the second bracket or the third bracket. The first bracket and the second bracket enable attachment of a first suspension to the frame. The first bracket and the third bracket enable attachment of a second suspension to the frame. The first suspension has a first geometry that is different than a second geometry of the second suspension.

Modular vehicle platform and related methods

A 5-link independent suspension system for a motor vehicle may include a steering knuckle and a trailing link extending along a single axis. The trailing link may be connected to the steering knuckle and be configured to attach to a frame rail of the vehicle. The suspension system may further include an integral link connected to the steering knuckle and configured to attach to the trailing link.

An independent wheel suspension for the non-driven wheels of a vehicle comprises a wheel carrier for rotatably mounting a wheel of the vehicle, the wheel carrier being connected to a first transverse link and a second transverse link. The first transverse link is configured to be torsionally stiff and comprises a U-shaped opening in the link. The first transverse link is connected to the vehicle body via two link bearings on a body side and is connected to the wheel carrier via two link bearings on a wheel carrier side. The wheel suspension includes a bearing spring supported on the vehicle body and on the wheel carrier and positioned within the U-shaped opening of the first transverse link.

Independent rear suspension

An independent rear suspension system is provided that has a trailing arm connected between a frame rail and a wheel support knuckle. A lower control arm is connected between a frame cross member and the knuckle. The suspension system also includes an upper link that extends between the frame rail and the knuckle. The toe link and upper link are generally vertically aligned. A stabilizer bar extends between the toe link and upper link and is connected to the lower control arm outboard of the shock and spring to reduce space requirements for the suspension system forward of the wheel support knuckle. The lower control arm is elongated and attached to the frame cross member inboard of the frame rails to improve the ratio of wheel travel to shock travel.

The present invention relates to an insulating mechanism for a gas water heater designed to increase the efficiency thereof. The device comprises a blanket formed of a pair of arcuate, adjacent panel members having top and bottom edges with a pair of opposing side edges therebetween. Adjacent side edges of the panel members are hingedly joined with the opposing side edges being selectively attachable to form a cylindrical blanket that encases a water heater storage reservoir. A piping system is disposed within each panel member for circulating waste gas therethrough. An exhaust duct is disposed on the top surface of a water heater outer shell and is in communication with the interior thereof. A hinged baffle divides the duct into an upper and lower chamber both of which are in communication with the piping system. A fan is disposed within the lower chamber and forces hot waste gas from within the outer shell through the blanket and out the top of the duct thereby providing a heated, insulating blanket for the water storage reservoir.
