An exterior rear view mirror assembly for road vehicles includes a frame structure configured to be attached to a vehicle body, a case bezel for casing a rear mirror glass and attaching to the frame structure, and a motor adaptor to couple the frame structure with a mirror actuator. The motor adaptor includes a first form-coding element and the case bezel includes a second form-coding element, which are formed and arranged such that they engage with each other when the case bezel and the motor adaptor are attached to the frame structure such that the case bezel and the motor adaptor cannot be assembled if the first and second form-coding elements do not correspond. The configuration provides a corresponding assembly system for left and right hand drive road vehicles and a method of manufacturing.

A rearview device for a vehicle includes a moveable head assembly; a base assembly to be fixed to the vehicle; an actuator assembly; and a cradle configured to attach the actuator assembly to the moveable head assembly and/or the base assembly and a vehicle with such a rearview device. The cradle has at least one tool protrusion on each side that enables attachment to a tool and facilities rotation of the cradle during assembly of the rearview device.

The present invention provides an exterior rear view assembly, comprising: a base frame comprising a bodywork side surface configured to be attached to a vehicle body; a seal configured to be attached to the base frame for sealing at least one feed-through opening, which is provided on the bodywork side surface, wherein the seal comprises an attachment section attachable to the bodywork side surface of the base frame and comprising at least one locking element for locking the seal in the feed-through opening, wherein the seal further comprises a grommet section configured for feed-through of a cable harness and protruding from the attachment section in a vehicle outboard direction. Furthermore, the invention provides a seal for such an exterior rear view assembly.
