A steering controller can control steering of a vehicle and is suitable for precision farm controlling. The steering controller can rotate the steering shaft of the vehicle direct the vehicle on a desired path, for example, using a satellite positioning system. Components of the steering controller are environmental protected by a housing that has an opening extending between its front and rear surfaces. The opening is lined by a shaft. A hub located near the front of the opening can be coupled to the steering shaft of the vehicle. A motor has a stator fixed to the housing and a rotor fixed to the hub. When the housing is attached to a fixed location on the vehicle, the motor can rotate the steering shaft by rotating the hub with respect to the housing. A control module drives the motor based on commands from a guidance module.

Steering controller for precision farming

A feedback control law steers a reference phase that tracks the phase of a received code sequence. The reference phase clocks a track-reference signal consisting of a series of correlation kernels, over which data is extracted and then summed in various combinations. The correlation kernels are designed in such a manner that errors caused by multipath are eliminated or substantially reduced. Furthermore, the areas of the correlation kernels are balanced across level-transitions of a code and non-transitions to eliminate phase biases when tracking specific satellites. Extra care must be taken to balance the correlation kernels in this manner due to a little known aspect of GPS C/A codes. Specifically, not all C/A codes have the same ratio of level-transitions to non-transitions as has been assumed in prior art.

Unbiased code phase discriminator

An apparatus for the detection of any intruder passing through an electronic fence is disclosed. The electronic fence is formed by a millimeter wave radar positioned at one end of the fence and a plurality of reflectors placed along the floor of the fence as well as on a structure at its far end. The fence is formed of a plurality of electromagnetic beams traversing between the radar antenna or antennas and each of the reflectors. A sufficient number of beams inhabit the fence volume to make traversing the fence by an intruder without detection essentially impossible. The radar reflection from the intruder's person is used to report the location of an intruder attempting to traverse the electronic fence near the radar end and is the secondary means of detection at greater ranges where breaking of one or more electromagnetic beams constitutes the primary means of detection.
