An integrated catheter assembly includes a housing member, an outer lumen member extending from the housing member, and a needle member having a needle slidably or movably coupled to the housing member, wherein the needle can be extended beyond the outer lumen member. Once a flash of blood is confirmed the needle member is uncoupled from the housing member and removed from within the patent's vein or artery. Two separate passageways are established by the inner and outer lumen members passing through the housing member. In this manner the two passageways permit the simultaneous flow of fluids into or out of a body from a single target site, such as blood, medications and other fluids.

Integrated catheter assembly

An integrated catheter assembly includes a housing member, an outer lumen member extending from the housing member, and a needle member having a needle slidably or movably coupled to the housing member, wherein the needle can be extended beyond the outer lumen. Once a flash of blood is confirmed the needle member is uncoupled from the housing member and removed from within the patient's vein or artery. A non-removable inner lumen member is connected to the housing member. The distal end of the outer lumen is sealed against the distal end of the inner lumen and includes at having at least one aperture to transfer blood out of the patient to the dialysis machine. The integrated catheter assembly therefore receives and delivers blood through a single injection site.

A method of using an integrated catheter assembly includes a housing member, an outer lumen member extending from the housing member, and a needle member slidably or movably coupled to the housing member, wherein the needle member can be extended beyond a first port of the outer lumen member in a first position and concealed in the outer lumen member in a second position. The outer lumen member has a side port between its first and second ports such that when the needle is extended in the first position and inserted into an arteriovenous fistula, blood from the arteriovenous fistula flashes into the needle member, is diverted through a relief port of the needle member out the side port of the outer lumen member for delivery to a dialysis machine. The assembly further includes an inner lumen member that is disposable through the housing member to extend out from the same the outer lumen member to provide dialyzed blood from the machine. The assembly therefore receives and delivers blood through a single injection site.

A small diameter delivery device capable of delivering a tissue loaded scaffold arthroscopically to a tissue defect or injury site without reducing the pressure at the injury site is provided. The scaffold delivery device of the present invention comprises a plunger system that includes two main components: an insertion tube and an insertion rod. The insertion tube has a flared proximal end for holding a tissue scaffold prior to delivery. An elongate, hollow body extends from the flared proximal end to a distal end of the insertion tube, and defines a passageway that extends through the body for delivery of the tissue scaffold. The insertion rod has an elongate body that extends into a handle at a proximal end and a tip at a distal end. The insertion rod is configured to be removably disposed within the insertion tube for sliding along the passageway to effect delivery of the tissue scaffold through the insertion tube.

Arthroscopic tissue scaffold delivery device

A biological tissue collection device is provided having a housing with a fluid-retaining inner chamber adapted to retain a bioimplantable, fluid permeable tissue scaffold. The scaffold is preferably retained in the housing in such a way that the scaffold separates the fluid-retaining inner chamber into a first chamber and a second chamber. The collection device further includes a driver mechanism coupled to the housing and effective to create a force within the housing to displace fluid disposed within the second chamber to the first chamber. As the fluid is displaced, any biological tissue deposited on the tissue scaffold is dispersed within the fluid. Removal of the force enables the fluid to return to the second chamber and thereby deposit the tissue onto the tissue scaffold. In an exemplary embodiment, the tissue is deposited evenly onto the tissue scaffold.

Tissue collection device and methods

A bed rail is disclosed for use with a bed. The bed rail includes a clamping device to clamp the bedrail to the bed. The bedrail is moveable between an upright position and a released position wherein the rail is moved downwardly toward a sidewall of the mattress to facilitate climbing upon and climbing off of the mattress.

Energy-dissipation system

A drum including a cylindrical shell having an upper edge defining an open top end, and a lower edge defining an open bottom end; a drum skin disposed over the top end; a plurality of lugs mounted on an outer surface of the shell in positions annularly spaced adjacent to the bottom end; and a cover movable between a closed position closing the bottom end and an open position providing access into the shell through the bottom end. Also included is a latch mechanism retained by one or more of the lugs and operable to either retain the cover in the closed position or allow movement of the cover into the open position.

Drum container

A pill dispenser includes a base formed to include several pill-receiving compartments and a cover formed to include an opening. The cover is mounted for rotation on the base to allow a user to align the cover opening with a selected one of the pill-receiving compartments so that the user can access any pills stored in the selected pill-receiving compartment.
