Disclosed herein is a device, methods, and systems for a specialized circuit and alert system for use with any motorized vehicle with an integrated electrical system. The circuit may connect to the vehicle electrical system through any available port. When the voltage in the electrical system is high the signal is deactivated, as is the case when the vehicle motor is running and charging the battery and electrical system. When it is low the signal is actuated. The system is further controlled by a switch connected to a sensor or other detection means, which activates the system based upon the presence or absence of an item. The whole of the system therefore operates to activate the system when an item is present and the engine is running, an alert signal is triggered when the vehicle engine is turned off. In the preferred embodiment a sensor is incorporated into a baby seat, and the circuit plugs into the cigarette lighter port.

An intraluminal grafting system having a balloon catheter assembly, a capsule catheter assembly and capsule jacket assembly is used for deploying in the vessel of an animal body a bifurcated graft having a plurality of attachment systems. The deployment catheters contain an ipsilateral capsule assembly, a contralateral capsule assembly and a distal capsule assembly, wherein the attachment systems of the bifurcated graft are disposed within the three capsule assemblies. A removable sheath of the capsule jacket assembly covers the bifurcated graft and capsule assemblies to provide a smooth transition along the length of the deployment catheters. The bifurcated graft is comprised of a main tubular member and two tubular legs, having attachment systems with wall engaging members secured to the superior end of the main tubular member and the inferior ends of the tubular legs. An inflatable membrane configured on the balloon catheter is used to firmly implant the attachment systems within the vessel. The bifurcated graft and attachment systems are configured to remain in the vessel after the deployment catheters are withdrawn. The method of use of the present intraluminal grafting system is also disclosed, for example, for deploying a bifurcated graft proximate the abdominal aortic bifurcation.

Bifurcated multicapsule intraluminal grafting system and method

An apparatus for repairing a vessel using a multicapsule catheter having first, second and third capsules for releasably retaining each terminal end of a bifurcated graft. The method for repairing the vessel includes the steps of performing a surgical technique to gain remote access to the vessel, advancing the multicapsule catheter within the vessel and releasing the bifurcated graft within the vessel to thereby repair the vessel.

The present invention relates to a catheter or cannula system that facilitates cardiopulmonary bypass surgeries and enables prolonged circulatory support of the heart. More specifically, the present invention provides an aortic catheter system including a porous aortic root balloon capable of occluding the aorta, delivering cardioplegia and providing tactile feedback and helping to maintain the competency of regurgitant aortic valves.

The present invention embodies an adjustable customized graft for placement within body lumens. The adjustable graft includes longitudinal and lateral pleats that can be individually released to thereby customize the length and lateral profile of the graft. A tubular jacket configured with access holes to the pleats is provided for delivering the adjustable graft within vasculature of the patient.

The present invention provides an aortic catheter having an upstream occlusion member positioned in the ascending aorta between the coronary arteries and the brachiocephalic artery and a downstream anchoring member positioned in the descending aorta, downstream of the aortic arch. The upstream occlusion member is in the form of a narrow, disk-shaped inflatable balloon. The downstream anchoring member may be a larger inflatable balloon or other anchoring structure that provides sufficient friction to prevent migration of the balloon catheter in the upstream or downstream direction. In addition, an arch perfusion lumen, a corporeal perfusion lumen and a cardioplegia lumen are provided for performing selective perfusion and cardioplegic arrest.

Aortic catheter and methods for inducing cardioplegic arrest and for selective aortic perfusion

Improved apparatus and methods are described for performing endarterectomy remotely via intraluminal techniques. A flexible blade dissector has a curved, diamond-shaped flexible dissecting blade mounted on a catheter shaft. The distal edge of the flexible dissecting blade is configured to form a dissecting edge for separating an atheromatous plaque from the medial layer of an artery wall. The flexible blade dissector may incorporate a steering mechanism to direct the flexible dissecting blade along a preferred path within the arterial wall. The endarterectomy method is performed by making an incision into an artery wall and initiating a plane of separation between an atherosclerotic plaque and the medial layer of the artery wall, inserting the flexible blade dissector into the plane of separation and advancing the flexible dissecting blade to longitudinally extend the plane of separation. Optionally, a second flexible blade dissector with a wider dissecting blade may be inserted coaxially over the catheter shaft of the first flexible blade dissector and advanced to laterally expand the plane of separation. Once the plaque has been freed from the entire inner circumference of the arterial lumen, the plane of separation is terminated on the distal and proximal ends, and the plaque is removed from the arterial lumen.

Endarterectomy apparatus and method

A circulatory support system and method for circulatory support are described for performing cardiopulmonary bypass using differential perfusion and/or isolated segmental perfusion of the circulatory system. The circulatory support system includes one or more venous cannulae for draining blood from the venous side of the patient's circulatory system, one or more arterial cannulae for perfusing the arterial side of the patient's circulatory system, and one or more blood circulation pumps connected between the venous cannulae and the arterial cannulae. The arterial cannulae and the venous cannulae of the circulatory support system may take one of several possible configurations. The circulatory support system is configured to segment a patient's circulatory system into one or more isolated circulatory loops. The circulatory loops may be isolated from one another and/or from the remainder of the patient's circulatory system on the venous side, as well as on the arterial side, for isolated closed loop circulatory support of separate organ systems. The circulatory support system is suitable for use in minimally-invasive cardiac surgery, using thoracoscopic, port-access or minithoracotomy techniques, or for standard open-chest cardiac surgery.

A delivery catheter having an inner catheter assembly, an inferior capsule catheter, and a capsule jacket assembly for use in deploying a graft having a compressible and expandable attachment systems in the thoracic region of an aorta. The graft is comprised of a tubular member having superior and inferior ends, each having an attachment system with wall engaging members secured thereto and is crimped along its midsection to resist kinking and elongation. The delivery catheter includes an inferior capsule assembly for releasably retaining the inferior attachment system of the graft and a superior capsule assembly for releasably retaining the superior attachment system of the graft as well as a releasing system for maintaining the attachment systems in a compressed configuration and for facilitating expansion of the attachment systems. The delivery catheter also includes an anti-elongation wire attached to the inner catheter assembly to prevent stretching of the delivery catheter during deployment of the graft within the aorta. Upon removing the attachment systems from the capsule, the releasing system functions to allow the attachment systems to assume their expanded configuration and engage the walls of the aorta. The graft and attachment systems remain in the vessel after the delivery catheter is withdrawn.
