A computer system includes a processor module having a clip mounted on a peripheral edge of the module. The clip includes a body which has an elongated channel portion for gripping the peripheral edge. On each end of the channel portion, a clamp is provided. The clamps each have ground contacts and locating dimples for engaging screw holes formed in the module. The channel portion also includes at least one leg member extending therefrom for contact with a surface of the computer chassis which houses the module. The ground contacts extend from the clamps and engage ground surfaces in the chassis.

A docking tray includes first guides for receiving a first docking device of a first size and second guides for receiving a second docking device of a second size. Contacts are provided adjacent the first and second guides. A display and control area is provided on the tray, remote from the guides, and is electrically connected to the contacts. The first and second docking devices each have contacts which matingly engage the tray contacts to provide communication with the display and control area. Grip members are formed on opposite sides of the tray and extend inwardly into the tray. The tray has a low profile and includes a surface having a tilt angle of less than two degrees.

A docking station adapter for portable computer media modules is described. In one embodiment, the docking station adapter includes a housing that is inserted into a expansion bay of a docking station and into which a media module is inserted, a flexible printed circuit ('FPC') including the necessary connectors for adapting a connector of the media module to a connector of the docking station disposed within the expansion bay, a mechanism for ejecting and removing the module from the adapter, and a mechanism for ejecting and removing the adapter from the expansion bay.

A computer anti-theft system for use with various lock devices includes a docking device and a computer engaged with the docking device by an interconnecting lock. A handle is provided for moving the latch to disengage the computer and the docking device. A first lock receiver is provided adjacent the handle for receiving a first type of lock for limiting movement of the handle to prevent disengagement of the docking device and the computer. A second lock receiver is also provided adjacent the handle for receiving a second type of lock, different from the first type, for limiting movement of the handle to prevent disengagement of the docking device and the computer.

A portable computer having a keyboard and one or more support members that are pivotable from a retracted position to an extended position to raise the front end of the computer. In the extended position, the support member raises the front end of the housing, and therefore tilts the keyboard an amount sufficient to reduce wrist extension from a neutral position when the keyboard is in use.

A computing system having a keyboard that is supported from a work surface by one or more support members. The positions of the support members relative to the keyboard are varied in accordance with a predetermined timed sequence, causing corresponding variances in the height of the housing portions corresponding to the support members. An integrated palm rest and battery pack in a portable computer system includes a base member of the portable computer having a keyboard. The base member has a multi-level surface adjacent the keyboard. A first portion of the multi-level surface defines a palm rest surface. A second portion of the multi-level surface simultaneously defines an extended palm rest area and a battery housing. The two portions define a pair of adjacent arcuate cascading surfaces.

A device and method for locking a computer access port. In a preferred embodiment, a locking device prevents removal of devices and media installed in a computer access port, but permits air circulation, visual access, and limited physical access. The locking device has an elongated member with an L-shaped engaging portion at one end and a barrel lock mechanism at the other end.
