A mascot retraction mechanism has a mascot basewith a non-circular outline shape which extends over and conceals a contact area with a substantially circular edge. A supportcomprising a support surfaceis biased into contact with the contact area of the mascot base permitting the mascot base to pivot relative to the support about the substantially circular edge. Such pivoting may operate a release mechanism causing retraction of a mascot.

Mascot retraction mechanism

A mascot retraction mechanism has a support () movably mounted to a track () for movement between a mascot deployed position and a mascot stowed position. A drive mechanism () may be arranged to drive the support along the track via a releasable latch (). The releasable latch may be released by tilting of a mascot able to enable the support to move along the track free of the drive mechanism.

A hinge cover member () for use with a swan neck type hinge () has an elongate channel shaped portion () for receiving the hinge arm () and a housing portion () for location about a mounting structure () which attaches the hinge arm to the closure. The housing portion defines at least one formation () for attaching an edge () of a trim panel () mounted to the closure to the housing portion. The formation () may be a clip which clamps the edge () of the trim panel. The trim panel (may have a live hinge () adjacent the edge about which the panel can flex. During adjustment of the closure () relative to the hinge, the edge region () of the trim panel is constrained to move with the hinge cover.

Boot hinge cover trim fixing

A hinge cover assembly () for a hinge having an elongate hinge arm has first and second cover members () mountable about the hinge arm so as to completely encircle the hinge arm over at least part of its length. The first cover member () has a channel portion () which surrounds the arm on three sides and the second cover member () is mountable to the first enclose the arm on the other side. The first cover member () has locking projections () on the inner surface of a side wall that engage in apertures in the hinge arm. The cover assembly () is particularly suited for use with a swan neck hinged used to mount a boot lid to a vehicle body. A housing portion () of the first cover member encapsulates a mounting structure of the hinge and may have a clip formation for clamping an edge region of a trim panel mounted to the boot lid.

Two part boot hinge cover

An adjustable hinge assembly () for securing a boot lid to the body of a vehicle has a mounting member () for attachment to the body. An adjustment member () is connected to the mounting member for pivotal movement about a first axis X and a hinge arm () on which the boot lid is mounted is connected to the adjustment member for pivotal movement about a second axis Y parallel to but spaced from the first axis. An adjusting mechanism () is operative to selectively adjust the pivotal position of the adjustment member () relative to the mounting member () in order to adjust the position of the boot lid relative to a body in a vertical direction.

Adjustable hinge assembly

An automobile comprises an automatically opening and closing boot lid having a drive mechanism located on the dry side of the drain channel and a rotatable shaft extending into the wet side of the drain channel, in order to provide drive to an arm which opens and closes the boot lid. The drive mechanism may be a linear actuator, such as a spindle drive, but drive is transmitted through the drain channel as torque.
