Systems, methods and apparatuses are provided for mitigating interference in wireless networks, and particularly in an advanced backhaul wireless network comprising several hubs, each hub serving its own remote backhaul modules (RBMs). Preferred embodiments provide practical power spectrum adaptation methods for the management of interhub interference. These methods are shown to improve the overall network throughput significantly compared to a conventional network with fixed transmit power spectrum. Optionally, joint scheduling and power control are used to optimize the network utility. Also provided are methods which evoke the channel average gains generated by measurements for managed adaptive resource allocation (MARA). The proposed methods are computationally feasible and fast in convergence. They can be implemented in a distributed fashion across all hubs. Some of the proposed methods can be implemented asynchronously at each hub.

Interference mitigation with scheduling and dynamic power spectrum allocation for wireless networks

A system, apparatus and methods are provided for extra-corporeal blood treatment, and in particular for establishing and maintaining a neck down differential body temperature, while maintaining near normal brain temperatures, to protect the brain from extended or extreme hypothermia or hyperthermia. A blood treatment apparatus and system is provided for differential control of brain temperature and body temperature below the neck. For example, a first bypass circuit with heat exchanger for brain blood circulation maintains a near normal blood temperature, while a second bypass circuit for below the neck blood circulation provides for thermal treatment to induce a temperature differential, e.g. hyperthermia or hypothermia, relative to brain circulation. Such systems and apparatus have application, for example, for diagnostic and therapeutic treatments using hyperthermia, particularly for treatments of extended duration or at elevated temperatures above 42&#xb0; C., for example, hyperthermia for treatment of cancer, infectious bacterial or viral diseases.

A system, method, and software are provided for measuring co-channel interference comprising interlink interference in a wireless backhaul network with particular application for management of resource allocation for Non Line of Sight (NLOS) wireless backhaul in MicroCell and PicoCell networks. Given the difficulty of predicting the interlink interference between multiple links, DownLink and UpLink co-channel interference are characterized for each backhaul radio link between each Hub and each Remote Backhaul Module Unit periodically during active service. Beneficially, the co-channel interference metrics are used as the basis for intelligently and adaptively managing network resources to substantially reduce cumulative interference and increase the aggregate data capacity of the network e.g. by grouping of interfering and/or non-interfering links, and managing resource block allocations accordingly, i.e. assigning common resource blocks preferentially to weakly interfering links or groups of links and allocating a different resource block or orthogonal channels to each strongly interfering link or groups of links.

System and method for co-channel interference measurement and managed adaptive resource allocation for wireless backhaul

An antenna arrangement, a system, and method are provided for implementing a wireless communication module capable of performing adaptive beam forming, with a small antenna sail area. The antenna has a large horizontal to vertical aspect ratio. The antenna module is designed to include very few, or potentially a single radiating element in the vertical direction, and many elements in the horizontal direction, in order to create narrow beam in the azimuth plane, while maintaining a small sail area. The novel form factor advantageously provides for reduced wind loading, and for less conspicuous installations on buildings or towers, for example. The module is anticipated to find widespread applications in LOS and NLOS backhaul applications, and other wireless links between stationary nodes.

System and method for high performance beam forming with small antenna form factor

The present disclosure allows transmission of multiple signals between masthead electronics and base housing electronics in a base station environment. At least some of the received signals from the multiple antennas are translated to being centered about different center frequencies, such that the translated signals may be combined into a composite signal including each of the received signals. The composite signal is then sent over a single feeder cable to base housing electronics, wherein the received signals are separated and processed by transceiver circuitry. Prior to being provided to the transceiver circuitry, those signals that were translated from being centered about one frequency to another may be retranslated to being centered about the original center frequency.

Provided are an apparatus, system, and method for facilitating wireless communication between a hub and a mobile terminal via a remote radio module. The remote radio module includes a first transceiver operable to wirelessly communicate with the mobile terminal, a second transceiver operable to wirelessly communicate with the hub that is coupled to a core network, and a processor for executing instructions stored in memory. The instructions include instructions for receiving a signal from the hub at a first carrier frequency and processing the signal so that the signal can be retransmitted to the mobile terminal at a second carrier frequency different from the first carrier frequency.

Apparatus, system, and method for a remote radio module with relay capability

The present invention facilitates the reduction of cabling required in a base station environment. When receive diversity is employed, main and diversity antennas are used to receive common signals at different locations. The signals received at the main and diversity antennas are combined with one another in the masthead and transmitted over a single feeder cable to a base housing for further processing. Thus, signals that were normally sent over separate feeder cables and combined in the base housing are combined in the masthead and sent over a single feeder cable. The technique can be replicated for each sector provided by the base station environment.

The present invention provides combining and separation circuitry, which allows multiple signals in different frequency bands to travel in either direction over a single cable and be combined and separated as desired. In one embodiment, the combining and separation circuitry includes first, second, third, and fourth ports. The first port is configured to send or receive signals in a first frequency band, the second port is configured to send or receive signals in a second frequency band, and the third port is configured to send or receive DC signals, baseband signals, or a combination thereof. The fourth port is configured to be coupled to a cable in which the signals in the first and second frequency bands, as well as the DC and/or baseband signals, can be sent in either direction.

Distributed band reject filters are disclosed. A band reject filter includes a first acoustic resonator and a second acoustic resonator, each of which has either shunt resonators adapted to resonate substantially at respective resonance frequencies defining a rejection frequency band or series resonators adapted to anti-resonate substantially at respective anti-resonance frequencies defining the rejection frequency band. These resonators are connected through a phase shifter which imparts an impedance phase shift of approximately 45&#xb0; to 135&#xb0;. Exemplary applications of the band reject filters disclosed herein include implementation as an inter-stage band reject filter for a base station power amplifier for a wireless communication system, as a radio frequency band reject filter in a duplexer for a wireless communication terminal, and in a low noise amplifier input stage.

A system for providing wireless communication is provided. The system comprises a radio transceiver comprising a plurality of configurable receivers and transmitters and a programmable processor, wherein the programmable processor is operable to configure at least some of the plurality of receivers and transmitters to operate using an operational mode associated with at least one of a designated coverage area and capacity.

Distributed band reject filters are disclosed. A first radio frequency band reject filter is disclosed having a splitter having a first input port, a first output port and a second output port, the splitter being operable on an input signal applied to the first input port to provide a respective output signal proportional to the input signal at each of the first and second output ports, the output signals having a phase shift between 45 degrees and 135 degree with respect to the input signal, as well as first, second and third acoustic resonators coupled respectively to the first input port, the first output port and the second output port. A second radio frequency band reject filter is disclosed having a combiner having a first input port, a second input port and a first output port, the combiner being operable on an input signals applied to the first input port and the second input port to provide a respective output signal proportional to the input signals at the first output port, the output signal having a phase shift between 45 degrees and 135 degree with respect to the input signals, as well as first, second and third acoustic resonators coupled respectively to the first input port, the second input port and the first output port. Also disclosed are amplifiers that comprise such radio frequency band reject filters.

Band reject filters are disclosed.
