This disclosure relates to a projection for a vehicle frame rail and a corresponding method. In some aspects, the techniques described herein relate to a vehicle, including: a frame rail; and a projection extending laterally outward from a laterally outer surface of the frame rail, wherein the projection is a part of a running board assembly.

A vehicle of unibody construction includes a left rail, right rail, first kickup member, and second kickup member. A left transition portion of the left rail extends inboard and upward from a left forward portion to a left rear portion. A right transition portion of the right rail extends inboard and upward from the right forward portion to the right rear portion. A left end of the first kickup member is coupled to the left forward portion and a right end of the first kickup member is coupled to the right forward portion. The second kickup member is rearward of the first kickup member. A left end of the second kickup member is coupled to at least one of the left forward and left transition portions. A right end of the second kickup member is coupled to at least one of the right forward and right transition portions.

A structural assembly for a vehicle includes a battery structure having a battery frame. The structural assembly includes a vehicle frame and a vehicle body. The vehicle frame has opposed longitudinal rails. The vehicle body is separate from and mounted on the vehicle frame. The vehicle body includes opposed rockers extending in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. Each opposed longitudinal rail is located between a respective rocker and the battery frame of the battery structure.

The present disclosure relates to a rail assembly that includes an outer rail and an inner rail opposite to the outer rail. The rail assembly also includes a cavity formed between the outer rail and the inner rail. The rail assembly further includes a first corner reinforcement coupled to the outer rail and the inner rail in such a way that at least a portion of the first corner reinforcement is located in the cavity. The rail assembly also includes a second corner reinforcement coupled to the outer rail and the inner rail in such a way that at least a portion of the first corner reinforcement is located in the cavity.

The present disclosure is directed to a truck including a cargo box coupled to a first rail and a second rail with a first cross member and a second cross member. The first and second rail are coupled to, and extend transverse to, the first and second cross members. A bed floor of the cargo box is physically separated from the rails by the cross members.

The present disclosure is directed to extrusion for a vehicle component. The vehicle component includes a plurality of flanges that form a periphery of the vehicle component, a cavity that extends through the periphery of the vehicle component, a corner portion that is positioned proximate to a corner defined by a pair of the plurality of flanges, and a channel that is positioned proximate to the corner portion.

The present disclosure generally relates to a rear sill assembly of a unibody vehicle. The unibody vehicle includes a floor assembly having a floor pan and a floor beam coupled to the floor pan, the floor beam having a floor channel. The unibody vehicle also includes a rear sill, and a coupling structure coupled to the rear sill. The coupling structure may include an outer periphery which is sized and shaped to be slideably coupleably received in the floor channel.

A vehicle body exoskeleton includes a plurality of nodes each defining a receptacle. A plurality of tubes have first and second end portions smaller than and tapering inwardly from a main portion. Each end portion is received in one of the receptacles. An adhesive is applied to the end portions filling a gap defined between the receptacles and the end portions to bond the tubes to the receptacles.

A vehicle tailgate includes an internal panel, a pair of side panels, and a tie-down bracket. The internal panel extends between the pair of side panels. The pair of side panels are rotatably secured to a cargo bed. The tie-down bracket is secured to an exterior of the internal panel. The tie-down bracket defines first and second C-channels that extend in a direction from a first to a second of the side panels.

A vehicle tailgate includes an internal panel, an upper panel, a lower panel, a pair of side panels, and a tie-down bracket. The internal panel extends from the upper panel to the lower panel and between the pair of side panels. The pair of side panels are rotatably secured to a cargo bed. The tie-down bracket is secured to an exterior of one of the side panels. The tie-down bracket defines a C-channel that extends along the exterior of one of the side panels from the upper panel toward the lower panel.

A vehicle tailgate includes an internal panel, upper panel, lower panel, pair of side panels, and pair of tie-down brackets. The internal panel extends from the upper panel to the lower panel and between the pair of side panels. The side panels are rotatably secured to a cargo bed proximate to the lower panel. The pair of tie-down brackets is secured to an exterior of the internal panel between the upper and lower panels. The tie-down brackets define C-channels that extend in a direction that is substantially parallel with the side panels.

A mounting member for securing a vehicle body to a chassis frame includes a horizontal base wall defining a mounting hole used to assemble the body to a receptacle on the frame. The mounting member further includes a plurality of side walls extending from the base wall to connect to a floor panel of the vehicle body. A boss protrudes from the base wall to the floor panel and includes a bore aligned with the mounting hole. The mounting member also includes at least one gusset extending from the boss to the base wall. The base wall, side walls, boss, and the at least one gusset are integrally formed as a single unitary body.

A corner node for reinforcing a portion of a truck box of a pickup truck is provided. The corner node may be disposed within a cavity defined by a cross member and a corner box pillar of the truck box. The corner node may include a lateral portion and a pillar portion extending vertically from the lateral portion. The lateral portion may be secured within the cross member. The pillar portion may have a plurality of sidewalls secured to the pillar and may define a plurality of web supports spaced apart along a height of the pillar portion to reinforce a corner region of the truck box. The corner node may be five or six thousand series aluminum.

A method for attaching a roof panel to a roof rail of a vehicle bodyside frame, wherein the roof rail prohibiting access to an underside of an area at which the roof panel attaches to the roof panel, can include applying a single-component adhesive to a roof rail or to a portion of a roof panel that rests on the roof rail, placing the roof panel onto the roof rail, attaching the roof panel to the roof rail using single-sided spot welds, and heating the roof panel and vehicle bodyside frame to a temperature that cures the single-component adhesive.
