An intraocular lens for insertion into the capsular bag of an eye contains an optic, an outer periphery, and an outer support structure. The optic has a periphery and centered about an optical axis. The outer periphery is disposed about the optic and configured to engage an equatorial region of the capsular bag of an eye. The outer support structure is disposed along the periphery and spaced from the optic with voids outer support structure and the optic. The intraocular lens further comprises a first intermediate member and a weakened region disposed along the outer periphery between the outer support structure and the first intermediate member. The first intermediate member operably couples the optic and the outer support structure. The weakened region is attached to, and configured to provide relative motion between, the outer support structure and the first intermediate member in response to the ciliary muscle of the eye.

Accommodating intraocular lens with outer support structure

Intraocular lenses are provided having a visible-light selective transmissive zone defined therein. The visible light-selective transmissive zone can be located near the lens center and designed to reduce the transmission of any wave-length of visible light specifically light in the blue light region having wavelength between approximately 400&#x3bb; to 550&#x3bb;. In one embodiment he IOLs are made from acrylates and the light absorbing compound is a yellow dye.

Intraocular lenses having a visible light-selective-transmissive-region

An intraocular lens (IOL) includes an optic for focusing light, an outer ring for supporting the optic in a capsular bag of an eye and a plurality of radially spaced apart, elongated intermediate members connecting the optic to the outer ring. The intermediate members are configured to convert radial forces exerted by the capsular bag on the support ring into axial movement of the optic, allowing a presbyopic patient to more effectively focus on near objects. The outer ring is preferably contoured to conform to the portion of the capsular bag between the anterior and posterior zonules, and has sufficient axial thickness to contact both sets of zonules. In addition, the edge of the ring includes at least one sharp edge corner to prevent epithelial cell growth toward the optic. In addition, the outer ring may include weakened areas configured to allow consistent and repeatable deformation in response to compressive forces.

Accommodating intraocular lens with integral capsular bag ring

Apparatus for measuring accommodation of a lens in an eye includes a target, a Badal lens, and a viewing aperture, where the Badal lens and the viewing aperture are positioned so that when the target moves towards or away from the lens, the apparent size of the target remains constant to a subject looking in the viewing aperture regardless of the distance the target moves. The apparatus may be provided in a compact housing and may include a mirror placed in the housing so that the viewing aperture can be placed away from the optical axis of the lens. The apparatus includes a controller to control the movement of the target. The apparatus measures the accommodation of a lens based on the distance the target moves during an examination. Methods of measuring accommodation of a lens in an eye of a subject are also disclosed.

Apparatus and methods for measuring accommodation of a lens in an eye

An intraocular lens for use in a mammalian eye includes an optic adapted to focus light toward a retina of the mammalian eye and, in cooperation with the mammalian eye, to provide accommodation, the optic being adapted to have a first configuration to provide substantially a single optical power and a second configuration to provide a plurality of different optical powers.

Monofocal intraocular lens convertible to multifocal intraocular lens

Intraocular lenses include a lens body sized and adapted for placement in a mammalian eye and having a plurality of different optical powers, and a movement assembly joined to the lens body and adapted to cooperate with the mammalian eye to effect accommodating movement of the lens body in the eye. Such intraocular lenses provide enhanced accommodation relative to the accommodation attainable using a single optical power IOL adapted for accommodating movement.

Accommodating multifocal intraocular lens

Iris fixated intraocular lenses include an optic and at least one fixation member or haptic. The fixation member is joined to the optic and has a distal segment including a through-iris portion adapted to extend through an iris hole, and an anchor portion. The anchor portion has or is adapted to have an anchor structure positioned to be disposed proximate to a side of the iris so as to be a effective in fixating the intraocular lens to the iris. The anchor structure may be formed prior to inserting the intraocular lens in the eye or may be formed after the intraocular lens is inserted in the eye. Methods for inserting such intraocular lenses in the eye are also provided.

Iris fixated intraocular lens and method of implantation

Intraocular lenses include an optic adapted to focus light toward a retina of an eye and a movement assembly coupled to the optic. In one embodiment, the optic has a far vision correction power and the movement assembly is adapted to cooperate with the eye to effect accommodating movement of the optic, preferably upon radial compression by a capsular bag of the eye. The optic preferably vaults anteriorly relative to the movement assembly. The movement assembly preferably circumscribes the optic and includes a member having a proximal end portion coupled to the optic and a distal end portion extending away from the optic and adapted to contact a capsular bag of the eye.

Moveable intraocular lens

The length of dwelling of a voice prosthesis in the fistula of a patient is extended by supporting the soft hollow body of the prosthesis with an elongated, rigid cartridge and mounting the flapper valve by means of a tab which extends through a slot in the flange of the cartridge. An enlarged cavity in the flange or the body communicates with the slot and receives the leading portion of the tab. The cavity is filled with adhesive to secure the valve to the cartridge.

A wound drainage reservoir which is a container having a resilient sidewall that defines a chamber within the container and wherein an opening extends through the sidewall. A helmet extends through the opening, which helmet has an extending lip that engages a portion of the sidewall of the container which surrounds the opening. A collar encircles and is bonded to the helmet for sealing such a portion of the sidewall between the lip of the helmet and the collar. A first inlet is on the helmet to provide a first fluid-flow conduit to the chamber. A second inlet is on the helmet to provide a second fluid-flow conduit to the chamber. A drainage outlet is on the helmet to provide a fluid-flow conduit from the chamber. A plurality of ribs extend laterally along the sidewall.
