A slitting apparatus having an anvil cylinder with an outer cylindrical surface adapted to support the material as it conveys through the slitting apparatus. An in-line cutting assembly having a series of blades with cutting edges disposed within a common plane that is oriented perpendicular to the cylinder's central axis. The cutting edges are arranged in an arcuate line that spirals inwardly toward the outer circumferential surface whereby the blades progressively slice the material so that the in-line cutting assembly forms a singular continuous slit.

Progressive slitting apparatus

An extended content booklet label having a substrate, a folded booklet and overlaminate. The overlaminate is applied to secure the multi-up book to the substrate. The area between the booklet and the substrate is devoid of adhesive so that the substrate can conform to the shape of a container without interference from the booklet. The booklet is held closed against the substrate by the overlaminate which extends beyond the booklet to adhere to the substrate or the container. The overlaminate can pivot away from the container to an open position where the booklet can be unfolded to access all of the pages.

Extended content booklet labels

A method of manufacturing an extended content booklet label. Sheets are parallel folded to form a spine of a multi-up book log. The book log is overlaminated with an overlaminate to a major web having a longitudinal direction so that the spine is oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the web. The major web is continuously moved passed three or more longitudinally aligned cutting elements. Each cutting element cuts deeper than the previous cutting element for progressively slitting the major label web and overlaminated multi-up book log in the longitudinal direction only to form two or more minor webs.

Method for manufacturing extended content booklet labels

A method for manufacturing an instructional booklet mounted on a substrate. A multi-up book log is provided having two or more booklets and a waste zone that share a common spine. The book log is adhered to an overlaminate and progressively slit to form overlaminate strips having booklets adhered thereto. The overlaminate is applied to a substrate with the booklets retained therebetween. The overlaminate and substrate are die cut around the booklets.

A method of manufacturing an extended content booklet label. A multi-up book includes folds that are parallel to the book's spine. The multi-up book is disposed on the label web and held in place by an overlaminate. The overlaminate, book log and labels are all pre-trimmed in the longitudinal direction. The web is moved passed cutting elements to progressively slit the web and trim the major web into minor webs in which the overlaminate, booklets and labels are trimmed in the width direction to have a common edge.

A method, system and apparatus is provided for identifying pharmaceutical products. A database of known pharmaceuticals is provided with links to virtual 3D models of each pharmaceutical. When a pill needs to be identified, an image of the pill is transmitted to the database CPU. The CPU screens out non-matching records and obtains perspective data based on the orientation of the pill. The CPU manipulates a 3D model into the same perspective as the pill to facilitate identification.

Method, system, and apparatus for identifying pharmaceutical products

A method for manufacturing an instructional booklet that folds away from a substrate. A multi-up book is provide having two or more booklets and a waste zone that share a common spine. The waste zone is adhered to a substrate that is larger than the booklets. An overlaminate is applied to secure the multi-up book to the substrate. The area between the booklets and the substrate is devoid of adhesive. Subsequently, the waste zone is die cut and removed along with the overlaminate and substrate leaving completed labels with booklets. The substrate can be adhered to a container without interference from the booklet. The booklet is held closed against the label by the overlaminate which extends beyond the substrate and booklet to adhere directly to the container.

An extended content label with a narrow overlaminate having a substrate, a leaflet and an overlaminate strip. The leaflet is adhered to a section of the upper surface of the substrate and has several overlying panels, longitudinally-extended accordion-type folds alternating along a top and bottom of each panel, and a perpendicular fold oriented normal to the longitudinal direction. The leaflet is a single sheet that is folded into a leaflet without the use of glue. The overlaminate strip is laminated across the entire longitudinal direction of the leaflet and laminated to another section of the upper surface of said substrate to form an extended content label. The height of the overlaminate strip is narrower than the leaflet so that all of the accordion-type folds extend beyond the overlaminate strip.

A two part identifying and instructional booklet having a label part and a booklet part. The front of the label has a small unvarnished region. The booklet is folded and glued closed with the free edges secured interiorly. An adhesive is printed onto the unvarnished region of the label and the folded booklet is adhered to the unvarnished region. The booklet has a tab portion to facilitate opening of the book during use. The tab portion faces the identifying portion of the label which extends longitudinally outwardly from the unvarnished region. The label may be placed onto a cylindrical container and bent in the longitudinal direction whereby the spine and folds of the booklet remain straight, flat and parallel to each other.

A folded medical outsert and method and apparatus for making same. The outsert consists of a printed sheet provided with a series of parallel fold lines. A first cross fold divides the sheet in half. Two off-center cross folds are then provided with an adhesive securing the last folded flap in place. The apparatus for folding the printed sheet includes a parallel folder and a cross folder to form the first and second cross folds. An adhesive applicator dispenses an adhesive before a knife folder performs the third cross fold. The method for forming the outsert includes the steps of forming a series of parallel fold lines. The first cross fold is then formed perpendicular to the parallel fold lines to divide the sheet into half. The second cross fold is then formed in the sheet following which an adhesive is dispensed onto the sheet. The third cross fold is then formed between the first cross fold and the second cross fold to provide a closed secured outsert.
