A system including tubing and a filter configured to be fluidly coupled to a vacuum source and to a heater/cooler unit by the tubing. The filter includes a filter container having negative air pressure in the filter container provided by the vacuum source to pull aerosol from the heater/cooler unit into the filter container and eliminate and/or reduce the aerosol emitted from the heater/cooler unit.

A centrifuge apparatus for processing blood comprising a bottom spring-loaded support plate; a top support plate; an axial inlet/outlet for blood to be processed and processed components of the blood, the axial inlet/outlet being attached to the top support plate by a rotating seal assembly; a variable volume separation chamber mounted between the bottom support plate and the top support plate, the variable volume separation chamber being fluidly connected to the axial inlet/outlet; a pump fluidly connected to the axial inlet/outlet; and a rotary drive unit attached to the bottom support plate. The top support plate is fixed vertically and the bottom spring-loaded support plate is mounted on springs that maintain pressure on the variable volume separation chamber and allow the bottom support plate to move vertically.

Centrifuge apparatus for processing blood

An improved centrifuge bowl and related system is disclosed which is particularly apt for enhanced autologous blood salvage applications. The centrifuge bowl assembly includes a rotatable outer bowl, an internal spacer interconnected therewithin, and a stator assembly for introducing/removing fluid during rotation of the outer bowl and internal spacer. The outer bowl and internal spacer are configured to define a lateral passageway at the bottom of the assembly which terminates in an upward-facing port for fluid passage therethrough into an annular, cylindrical collection region. The annular port may be defined by a peripheral fin on the spacer and may be of a width that is less than the width of the cylindrical, annular collection region, wherein separated blood components (e.g. red blood cells) will accumulate across the width of the port during blood fill/wash cycles. As a result, enhanced washing is realized while maintaining throughput rates.

Centrifuge bowl for autologous blood salvage

A pass-through tube for use in conveying intravenous fluid to a patient in a pressurized chamber, the tube including a tubular body having an outer surface shaped and sized to sealably mate with the interior surface of a connector passing through the wall of a pressurized chamber, a first end having a first generally cylindrical surface adapted to sealably engage a similarly shaped surface of a mating first connector and first locking members for locking with mating locking members on the first connector, a second end having a second generally cylindrical surface adapted to sealably engage a similarly shaped surface of a mating second connector and second locking members for locking with mating locking members on the second connector. Also disclosed is a kit including a pass-through tube, a flexible internal tube, and a valve connected to the external end for connection to an intravenous supply line.
