An article including: a porous substrate that includes a fibrous material; and a release coating disposed on the fibrous material of the porous substrate; wherein the release coating includes a thermoplastic silicone-containing polymer. A method of making an article, which method includes: providing a porous backing having a first major surface and a second major surface; applying a pressure sensitive adhesive to the first major surface of the porous backing; and applying an aqueous dispersion including a thermoplastic silicone-containing polymer to the second major surface of the porous backing to form a low adhesion backsize.

The present invention provides a release coated film, an adhesive tape comprising a release coated film, and processes for preparing the same. The fluoropolymer release layer comprises a graft copolymer of (i) a base polymer containing polymerized units derived from monomers having terminal olefinic double bonds, and (ii) a moiety comprising a fluoroaliphatic group. The film may be coextruded and may subsequently be oriented in at least one direction. Alternately, the release coating can be extrusion coated onto a backing and may be subsequently oriented if the backing is orientable. Adhesives may be coated onto the release coated films either before or after orientation, or they may be coextruded along with the release coating and/or backing.

Extrudable release coating

There is provided a block, segmented or graft copolymer having polyorganosiloxane segments and self-associating hard segments, which copolymer is capable of forming a solid, generally non-tacky release coating without the requirement of curing. The release coating comprises the polyorganosiloxane copolymer admixed with an MQ resin wherein the amount of MQ resin is generally between 1 and 30 weight percent of the polyorganosiloxane content preferably 1 to 20 weight percent. The MQ resin modifies the copolymer release material to have a higher release than the copolymer itself, generally at least 10 percent and preferable at least 20 percent up to 50 percent or higher with the readhesion values decreasing by 50 percent or less, preferably 40 percent or less.

A pressure-sensitive adhesive closure for a disposable diaper can exhibit high peel resistance both at low and high speeds while its peelability at high speeds is not excessively shocky when it employs a pressure-sensitive adhesive of a certain rheology and it has, covering the fastening area, a polyolefin layer having microtopographical features as in FIGS. 1-6 of the drawing. As seen in FIGS. 1-6, suitable microtopographical features are provided by a large number of closely spaced asperities at least two micrometers in height that have a jagged appearance at 500.times.. A pressure-sensitive adhesive of suitable rheology can be provided by a blend of an AB block copolymer, such as a copolymer of styrene and either isoprene or butadiene, and tackifying resin, preferably a mixture of liquid and solid tackifying resins.

Pressure-sensitive adhesive closure for disposable diaper

A diaper, adhesive fastening tab which exhibits good peel, quick-stick, shear strength and aging when used with a diaper outer film, either with or without a low adhesion backside. The adhesive used with the fastening tab is based on a composition comprising a slightly aromatic containing aliphatic oil, a styrene/isoprene block copolymer and a solid C.sub.5 tackifying resin.

A composite structure comprises a substrate bearing on one or more surfaces a layer comprising an epoxypolysiloxane in which greater than 20% of the siloxane units are substituted by an oxiranyl group-substituted monovalent, non-cyclic, linear or branched aliphatic group. The composite structures can be adhesive roll and sheet materials in which the novel layer is a release coating.

Silicone release compositions

Supported initiators for the radiation-activated polymerization of cationically-polymerizable compounds, particularly epoxide group-containing compounds, are described. The supported initiators comprise a particulate carrier and a photocatalytic ionic salt. The supported initiators are especially useful for the polymerization of cationically-polymerizable compounds in which the ionic salt alone is not soluble.

Shaped articles, particularly ophthalmic devices, can be fabricated from oxygen transmissive, hydrolytically stable, polysiloxane copolymers of readily prepared poly(organosiloxane) monomers having monourethane acrylate groups and copolymerizable ethylenically-unsaturated monomers. The ophthalmic devices comprise copolymers of compositions containing 15 to 100 percent of said organopolysiloxane urethane acrylate and 85 to 0 percent of copolymerizable ethylenically-unsaturated monomers. Ophthalmic devices which are fabricated from monourethane acrylates of polysiloxane alcohols have high oxygen permeability. A novel process is disclosed for the preparation of these polysiloxanes which have at least one urethane acrylate substituent.
