A sling clip is disclosed that has a clamping mechanism capable of releasably securing the strap when the strap is slidably received through an opening in the sling clip. The sling clip also has an attachment mechanism configured to secure the sling clip proximate to a weapon bearer's body. The clamping mechanism is operatively configured to secure the strap within the sling clip when the weapon is in a firing position such that the strap minimizes movement of a muzzle end of the weapon caused by recoil of the weapon upon firing. A sling including the sling clip also is disclosed. The sling also includes a flexible strap having a first end and a second end is disclosed. The first end of the strap is configured to be secured to a weapon near a near a butt end of the weapon. The weapon may be a rifle, shotgun, or handgun.

Sling clips and attachment

A sling clip has a clamping mechanism capable of releasably securing a weapon strap when the strap is slidably received through an opening in the sling clip. The sling clip also has a let strap assembly configured to secure the sling clip proximate to a weapon bearer's body. The leg strap assembly incorporates Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS) compatible loops, a secondary belt fastener, and a pair of cantilevered arms that retain the sling clip. The clamping mechanism is operatively configured to secure the strap within the sling clip and thereby to the weapon bearer's body when the weapon is in a firing position and during firing.

A system for assessing one or more temperatures in an opening in a subsurface formation includes an electrical conductor and electrical insulation at least partially surrounding the electrical conductor. The electrical insulation includes magnesium oxide and a ferroelectric material. An electrically conductive sheath at least partially surrounds the electrical insulation. A profile of one or more dielectric properties of the electrical insulation along a length of the electrical insulation is assessed during use to assess a temperature profile with spatial resolution along the length of the electrical insulation.

Temperature assessment using dielectric properties of an insulated conductor heater with selected electrical insulation

An insulated electrical conductor (MI cable) may include an inner electrical conductor, an electrical insulator at least partially surrounding the electrical conductor, and an outer electrical conductor at least partially surrounding the electrical insulator. The insulated electrical conductor may have a substantially continuous length of at least about 100 m. The insulated electrical conductor may have an initial breakdown voltage, over a substantially continuous length of at least about 100 m, of at least about 60 volts per mil of the electrical insulator thickness (about 2400 volts per mm of the electrical insulator thickness) at about 1300&#xb0; F. (about 700&#xb0; C.) and about 60 Hz. The insulated electrical conductor may be capable of being coiled around a radius of about 100 times a diameter of the insulated electrical conductor. The outer electrical conductor may have a yield strength based on a 0.2% offset of about 100 kpsi.

A system for assessing one or more temperatures along an insulated conductor in an opening in a subsurface formation includes an insulated conductor with a length comprising at least two sections of insulation with different capacitances. The sections with the different capacitances include different takeoff temperatures for at least one dielectric property of the insulation.

The clamping mechanism is operatively configured to secure the strap within the sling clip when the weapon is in a firing position such that the strap minimizes movement of a muzzle end of the weapon caused by recoil of the weapon upon firing. A sling including the sling clip also is disclosed.

Biomechanically improved sling and attachments

A fitting for coupling an end of a first insulated conductor to an end of a second insulated conductor is described. The fitting includes a first splice housing placed over the end of the first insulated conductor and coupled to the first insulated conductor. The fitting also includes a second splice housing placed over the end of the second insulated conductor and coupled to the second insulated conductor. A sleeve is located over the end of the second insulated conductor and adjacent to the second splice housing. An interior volume of the fitting is substantially filled with electrically insulating material. The interior volume of the fitting is reduced such that the electrically insulating material substantially filling the interior volume is compacted.

Methods for assessing a temperature in an opening in a subsurface formation are described herein. A method may include assessing one or more dielectric properties along a length of an insulated conductor located in the opening and assessing one or more temperatures along the length of the insulated conductor based on the one or more assessed dielectric properties.

Sling clip and attachment

A rifle sling for transporting a rifle and steadying the rifle during firing is herein disclosed. The sling comprises a strap that is attached at one end near the muzzle of the rifle and at a second end near the butt of the rifle. An intermediate portion of the strap passes freely through a sling clip that is coupled to the truncal region of the bearer of the rifle. When the rifle is placed in its firing position, muzzle flip caused by recoil in the rifle will be resisted by the strap of the sling. The sling clip may clamp the strap of the sling to more securely couple the muzzle end of the rifle to the truncal region of the bearer. In addition, the sling is constructed and arranged to permit the movement of the rifle between its slung and firing positions without uncoupling the strap of the sling from the sling clip.
