A method for determining a corrected air mass flow value in an engine having an air mass meter in its intake. The method includes determining a cold start condition of the engine at a first time when there is no air mass flow in the intake tract, producing a reference signal by the air mass meter at the first time, and determining an air mass flow offset from the reference signal, producing a measurement signal by the air mass meter at a second time, which is not equal to the first time, which is in an operating period of the engine, determining an air mass flow value from the measurement signal, and determining a corrected air mass flow value from the air mass flow offset and the air mass flow value.

Method for determining an air mass in an internal combustion engine

An air mass flowmeter with a housing having an air-guiding path in which an air mass sensor element is arranged on a sensor element carrier in the housing and is electrically connected to a circuit carrier by connection wires. The circuit carrier is also arranged in the housing the air mass sensor element is positioned accurately in the air-guiding path by a positioning element that engages into a positioning element receptacle formed in the sensor element carrier.

Air mass flow meter

The present disclosure provides a method for measuring air mass flow using an air mass flow meter. The air mass flow meter comprises a sensor element for detecting an air mass flow (Q) and for generating a signal (S), and an electronic circuit for processing the signal (S) from the sensor element, wherein the sensor element generates a non-linear signal characteristic. The method may include converting the non-linear signal into a correcting, non-linear signal characteristic, then filtering the correcting, non-linear signal characteristic, then converting the filtered non-linear signal characteristic into a non-linear signal characteristic, and then generating an output signal relaying the signals (S) detected by the sensor element and processed by the linearization element, the filter element, and the conversion element.

An air mass sensor includes a microelectromechanical-type sensor element having a heating element. A first temperature sensor element is arranged on the sensor element upstream of the heating element, and a second temperature sensor element is arranged on the sensor element downstream of the heating element. The first temperature sensor element has a first width and a first length, and the second temperature sensor element has a second width and a second length. To eliminate or closely limit false measurement results due to the presence of dirt on the sensor element, the first width of the first temperature sensor element is greater than the second width of the second temperature sensor element.

Air mass sensor

An air mass flow meter, includes a housing made of plastic having an electrically insulating effect. A flow channel is formed in the housing. The air mass flow motion also includes a sensor element which is arranged in the housing and detects the air mass flowing in the flow channel. Conductive paths are arranged in the housing and connect the sensor element to connection pins. In order to provide a mass air flow meter which is cost-effective to produce and allows precise measurement of a mass air flow, the entire housing is made of plastic and at least one part of the flow channel has electrostatically dissipative properties.

An air mass flowmeter having a sensor element of microelectromechanical design, a heating element, and a temperature sensor element. The temperature sensor element is a thermocouple assembly having a multiplicity of thermocouples connected in series. Each thermocouple is a first metal conductor and a second, different metal conductor connected to one another at one end by a connection point. To reduce the distortion of measurement results by the soiling of the sensor element, the first thermocouple(s) and the last thermocouple(s) of the thermocouple assembly are polarized such that an electrical current flows first through the second metal conductor and then through the first metal conductor in each case. The remaining thermocouples of the thermocouple assembly are polarized such that the electrical current flows first through the first metal conductor and then through the second metal conductor.

Air mass flowmeter

An air mass meter has a sensor element, across which an air mass flow to be measured moves. The sensor element is a micro-electro-mechanical system having a membrane, on which a heating element is formed. An electrical measuring resistor and at least two electrical comparison resistors are arranged upstream and downstream of the heating element. A first temperature sensor element is formed with a measuring resistor upstream of the heating element and two comparison resistors arranged downstream of the heating element. The second temperature sensor element is formed with a measuring resistor arranged downstream of the heating element and two comparison resistors arranged upstream of the heating element.

Air mass meter with a sensor element

A sensor system has at least one first sensor element for measuring a first physical variable and a second sensor element for measuring a second physical variable. The first sensor element is part of an application-specific integrated circuit which, in addition to the first sensor element, has further electronic circuits. The second sensor element is arranged separately and outside the application-specific integrated circuit. The second sensor element is electrically connected to the application-specific integrated circuit via a first connection point. The application-specific integrated circuit is configurable via the first connection point and the measurement signal from the second sensor element can be read out via the first connection point.

Sensor system

An air mass flowmeter having a sensor module fitted in a tube for measuring a gas quantity flowing in the tube at a flow speed. The sensor module extends in the tube. A start of the sensor module defines a first plane and an end of the sensor module defines a second plane both normal to the direction of flow. Extended flow directing elements are arranged in the tube parallel to the direction of flow so that the gas flows onto end faces and wall regions of the flow elements. The wall regions extend between the first and second planes and increase the flow speed of the gas given a low flow speed, relative to the flow speed in the tube, and increase the flow speed of the gas to a lesser extent, given a high flow speed of the gas relative to the flow speed.

The invention relates to a mass tube () for an air measuring sensor () comprising a metal grid () acting as a flow rectifier arranged perpendicular to the air flow (). At least two fixing elements () are arranged on the measuring tube (), said elements extending inwards in a radial manner, whereon the metal grid () is fixed by pre-tensioning.

The invention relates to a device with an air inlet manifold () and an air mass sensor arrangement () inserted radially therein, the insertion opening () of which is arranged perpendicular to the airflow direction () in the manifold (). A wing-shaped shielding body () is arranged before the insertion opening () such as to cover the insertion opening () and guarantee a streamline airflow to the insertion opening () and the essentially straight surface thereof, transverse to the flow direction of the air flowing over said surface, is oriented perpendicular to the insertion direction of the air mass sensor arrangement ().

Device with an air intake manifold and an air mass sensor arrangement inserted therein

An air mass sensor has a three-part configuration formed of an insertion element, a measuring channel element and a housing element for accommodating an evaluation device. In order to be able to provide flexible insertion elements for a device having a short overall height, the measuring channel element and the housing element are joined to one another along a side of the measuring channel element that is perpendicular to the main direction.

Device for measuring the mass of air flowing inside a line

A mass flowmeter includes a flow straightener or rectifier having a honeycomb member. The honeycomb member has at least one honeycomb, which is aligned with a sensor element in a flow direction. Two walls of that honeycomb enclose an angle. The sensor element is positioned with reference to a bisector axis of the angle enclosed by the two honeycomb walls in such a way that a mass flow thereto corresponds approximately to a mean value of a wave-shaped air flow in direction of the bisector axis when the flow is about to change over from laminar to turbulent flow.
