A personal photographic collection system involving activities of a customer at an amusement park, which includes personal images captured by a plurality of cameras, environ images separately captured and interleaved between the personal segments, and text. The organization of certain images of the personal photographic collection is determined by a customer who registers identification and information data prior to activating the cameras. Upon completion of the image capturing, the personal photographic images, the text and environ images are assembled, processed, and duplicated for delivery to the subscriber. The environ images are selected to display weather conditions existing at the time of capturing the personal photographic images.

System and method for making a personal photographic collection

A method for providing video programming in a nearly on demand basis is disclosed. A video network includes a video server that operates several video recorders to simultaneously exhibit video performances or programs on a plurality of channels. The video server is controlled in real time in accordance with data presented to it in an exhibition plan. The exhibition plan calls for two or more channels to show the same program on a time offset basis. Due to the offset in exhibiting a given program, a subscriber may view a program at any time, from the beginning of a program, by waiting for a period of time that is no longer than the offset. Preferably, this offset is substantially shorter than the run time of the program. The channels carrying this program are unscrambled prior to the beginning of the program and for a predetermined duration into the program so that subscribers may preview the program. However, the channels are scrambled for the remainder of the exhibition of the program. A subscriber may order the program when it begins and for a short duration after the program becomes scrambled.

A personal video involving activities of a subscriber at an amusement park, which includes personal segments recorded by a plurality of video cameras, environ segments separately recorded and interleaved between the personal segments, and text. The organization of certain segments of the personal video is determined by a subscriber who registers identification and information data prior to activating the cameras. Upon completion of the recording, the personal segments, the text and environ segments are assembled, processed, and duplicated for delivery to the subscriber. The environ segments are selected to display weather conditions existing at the time of recording the personal video segments.

Method for providing video programming nearly on demand

A communication system includes a remote mobile node which acquires time-correlated data of its actual position from a global positional system (GPS), and securely transmits the information as a position history to a central facility. The mobile node includes encrypted programming material such as copyrighted video. At the central facility, a comparison is made between the received position history and predetermined signature data representing acceptable time-position histories. If a positive match is detected, a decryption key associated with the matched history is forwarded to the mobile node for decoding of the encrypted programming material.

Location-sensitive remote database access control

System for distributing video programs includes a transmission system having a plurality of channels, includes a stored database representing a predetermined schedule including timing instructions. A computer is programmed to provide real time outputs in response to the database time instructions. A bus has an input coupled to the computer and providing control signals in response to the real time outputs. A recorded media contains programs in television format. A plurality of video players are used for playing the recorded media, each video player having a control port coupled to the bus and responsive to the control signals. Each video player has an output providing television signals for coupling to a separate corresponding channel, and at least two of the video players loaded with duplicate recorded media and controlled to play at staggered overlapping time intervals. A character generator is coupled to the computer for providing to a channel a menu in television format representing a programming schedule. Scrambling means are interposed between the output of a video player and the corresponding channel for scrambling the television signal. Access means provides downstream access to a channel and unscrambles a television signal on an accessed channel. The access means provides access to the first and second channels thereby allowing return to the same point of a program after a pause equal to the staggered time interval.

A video system includes a central facility and a terminal. Means are provided for playing a video recording medium storing a video program including a series of television fields including a first field containing both a random digital code encrypted according to a code encryption key and program identification data, and a second field containing an unintelligible video signal previously transformed from a intelligible video signal according to the random digital code. The terminal includes means for sending the program identification data to the central facility. The central facility includes a data base for storing and retrieving at least one code encryption key corresponding to the program identification data and means for sending the code encryption key from the central facility to the terminal. The terminal further includes means for receiving the code encryption key from the central facility, decrypting means for decrypting the encrypted digital code of the first frame in accordance with the code encryption key, and means for transforming the unintelligible video signal of the second frame to the intelligible video signal using the decrypted random digital code.

The terminal includes means to store terminal identification data and a terminal specific encryption key; and means to send to the central facility the program idenficiation data and the terminal identification data. The central facility includes means for providing a session encryption key, means for encrypting the session encryption key according to the terminal specific encryption key, means for sending the encrypted session encryption key from the central facility to the terminal, a data base for storing and retrieving at least one code encryption key corresponding to the program identification data, means for encrypting the code encryption key according to the session encryption encryption key, and means for sensing the encrypted code encryption key from the central facility to the terminal. The terminal further includes means for receiving the encrypted session encryption key from the central facility, decryption means for decrypting the session encryption key according to the terminal specific encryption key, means for receiving the encrypted code encryption key from the central facility, decryption means for decrypting the code encryption key according to the session encryption encryption key, and decrypting the encrypted random digital code of the first frame in accordance with the code encryption key; and means for transforming the unintelligible video signal of the second frame to the intelligible video signal using the decrypted random digital code.
