A method of measuring hand hygiene compliance includes the steps of maintaining a computer database, and determining whether any person entered a first area independent of whether the any person includes a sensor. The method also includes the steps of determining whether the any person left the first area and entered a second area, and determining whether the any person performed hand hygiene before leaving the first area. Moreover, the method includes the step of sending information associated with whether the any person performed hand hygiene before leaving the first area to the computer database.

Systems and methods for measuring hand hygiene compliance

A method and apparatus that systematically prompts staff, patients and visitors at care facilities to perform handwashing at critical time periods, for example after touching a toilet flush handle or upon entering or leaving a patient's room. A plurality of detectors are used to sense whether a person has entered an area and to determine whether the person has cleansed their hands within a predetermined period of time before entering the area or leaving the area. If it is determined that the person has cleansed their hands within the predetermined period of time, no prompting message is generated. If it is determined that the person has not cleansed their hands within the predetermined period of time, an audio/visual warning message is generated.

Systems and methods for improving hand hygiene compliance

A bed air bag deterrent apparatus for deterring a bed occupant from getting out of bed without assistance of a caregiver, including a deterrent device mounted on a bed frame and activated by a detection system to deter or delay the bed occupant from getting out of bed, a detection system having a detector for detecting when the bed occupant is attempting to get out of bed, and a control mechanism to for controlling the detection and deterrent systems. The deterrent device has an inflatable air bag mounted on the long side of a horizontally displaced rectangular support frame that is positioned on the horizontal surface of a bed frame. The detection system includes transmitters, sensors and pressure-sensitive bed occupancy pads for detecting the bed occupant. The control mechanism includes a bed occupancy monitor and audio system.

Bed air bag deterrent system

A method for monitoring the activities of a user within a selected environment, which comprises monitoring and reporting the condition of a user in a selected environment, monitoring the time, frequency and duration of use of each of a plurality of selected elements, selected from a plurality of physiological measurements of the user and a plurality of non-physiological measurements from the selected environment, a repeating hub for receiving data from each of the selected elements, transmitting the data from the repeating hub to a central processing unit, analyzing the data received by the central processing unit to establish a pattern of user behavior and normal-use parameters for each of the plurality of selected elements, and signaling beyond the selected environment when at least one selected element exceeds the normal use parameters being monitored.

Method of user monitoring of physiological and non-physiological

A device for inspection by eddy current methods of materials exhibiting cumferential conductivity. This device finds application for the inspection of filament-wound carbon fiber reinforced composites which do not usually have sufficient conductivity in the axial direction to allow inspection by conventional surface probes while still providing the desired resolution. This device is also useful in inspecting thick-walled circumferentially conductive materials, including metal, where their thickness would require a surface probe of such diameter as to be impractical.
