A toothbrush is provided with a base and handle having a flexible neck portion in order to clear the lip and chin. A stepped neck portion is provided whereby the thickness of the flexible neck portion is substantially less than the thickness of the base, the length of the neck portion being substantially greater than the length of the base, the width of the entire neck portion is substantially less then the width of the base, and the entire thickness of the neck portion is less than the entire width of the neck portion. A stepped end face is provided at the end of the base and the surface of the base is disposed at an angle facing away from the handle front face.

A swim fin having a low drag profile foot pocket-beam assembly, achieved by attaching a single beam to the bottom of the foot pocket to support the rigid blade. Such construction has the added advantages of making it possible to taper the sides of the toe portion of the foot pocket to generally conform to the shape of the foot, reducing the drag profile of the foot pocket and positioning the single beam so-that it is behind the foot pocket during swimming, thereby improving swim fin efficiency.

The swim fin has a rigid blade that is fixedly attached to the end portions of two flexible beams which are molded to the sides of the foot pocket and project therefrom. The flexible beams project forwardly and inwardly for a short distance so as to position the flexible beams behind the toe of the foot pocket as the swim fin moves through the water during swimming. The height of the flexible beams is reduced at a position near the leading edge of the rigid blade so that most of the flexing is confined to this position. The rigid blade is hollow and the end portions of the flexible beams are enclosed in the shell of the rigid blade.

A swim fin having a rigid blade that has the center portion of its leading edge pivotally attached to two beams which project forwardly from the foot pocket. The rigid blade pivots freely for part of its angular movement. The swim fin is designed not to snag seaweed.

The blade, beams and foot pocket of the improved swim fin are all molded together in one piece of the same non-rubber thermoplastic elastomer. To provide flexibility, the part of the foot pocket that fits over the arch of the foot is formed to include a plurality of straps.

In the first form of the present invention, a swim fin includes a foot pocket, two flexible beams projecting forwardly therefrom, a blade attached to the forward end portions of the flexible beams and displaced from the foot pocket, the foot pocket, flexible beams and blade all being molded in one piece. A narrow rigid plate is attached to the blade and flexible beams at a point near the leading edge of the blade to connect the flexible beams to support the leading edge of the blade, and together with the part of the flexible beams attached to the blade, to provide a blade structure which is generally rigid during swimming but is flexible during walking and standing. In the second form of the present invention, the foot pocket and flexible beams are molded in one piece whereas the blade which is rigid is molded separately. The forward end portions of the flexible beams are attached to the rigid blade with fasteners.

A swim fin including a foot pocket has a rigid blade pivotally attached to a spring-biased strut assembly, one end of which is attached to the toe of the foot pocket, the other end of which is attached to the leading edge of the rigid blade. In one form the swim fins are provided as a pair, the blade of one having its trailing edges inclined, the leading edge of the blade of the other fin having leading edges inclined to accommodate the trailing edge of the other fin. The hinge point of one fin is located farther from the toe of the foot pocket than is the case for the other fin so that the swim fins can be used without their blades striking each other. The structure requires a minimum amount of energy for blade angle reversal during swimming.

An improved swim fin includes a foot pocket, first and second flexible beams supported by the pocket and projecting forwardly from it, first and second struts attached securely to outer ends of the first and second flexible beams, respectively, a narrow, rigid, streamlined blade having a large span rigidly attached to outer ends of the first and second struts. The first and second flexible struts are composed of flexible plastic and have elliptical cross-sections to reduce drag and to prevent twisting. The first and second struts form legs of a U-shaped member, the bottom of which forms a cross-member maintaining spacing between the first and second flexible beams at a fixed value.

A swim fin having a foot pocket and two flexible beams projecting directly forwardly from the sides of the toe of the foot pocket. A rigid blade is attached to the flexible beams so that a space exists between it and the foot pocket. The elements which are provided to attach the two flexible beams to the rigid blade include a pivot point for the rigid blade. The swim fin is simple in design and is designed for maximum efficiency, comfort and reliability.

A circuit breaker switchgear housing device having a stab positioning system whereby a draw-out circuit breaker having separable contacts is contained in the switchgear housing. A stab positioning system is utilized so as to precisely locate stabs so that a circuit breaker having contact clusters which are electrically attached to the circuit breaker contacts make accurate and uniform contact with the stabs. The stabs are generally a rectangular-shaped bar with one of the ends being rounded off. Cut into two sides of the stab and opposing each other are notches. The stab is inserted into a retainer or positioning washer which has a bayonet-type lock opening into which the stab is inserted and rotated 90.degree., thereby prohibiting axial movement of the stab with respect to the washer. A retainer or positioning washer having an opening slightly larger than the stab cross-section is used to rigidly position an inserted stab, prohibiting rotational movement with respect to the opening in the stab. An insulating partition which is rigidly attached to the switchgear housing, facilitates the positioning and attachment of the two positioning washers containing the stab. The positioning washers are separated by a ledge contained in the insulating partition.

There is provided by this invention a novel switchgear shutter design employing curvilinear displaced shutter means which provide an entirely metallic grounded surface between the potentially live contacts and the front of the compartments. This novel shutter means is disposed to move to a safe and effective distance away from live electrical ports when the circuit breaker is moved into its normal operating position.
