A lifting and lowering tool includes a foot configured to be supported on a surface, a bar extending therefrom, and a movable assembly including a housing, a movable platform shaped to support a load that extends from the housing, a lifting actuator configured to incrementally move the movable assembly along the bar away from the foot, a lowering actuator configured to incrementally move the movable assembly along the bar towards the foot, and a release actuator configured to disengage the movable assembly from the bar to allow free movement of the movable assembly along the bar. In embodiments, the movable assembly engages the bar through locking plates that extend through a flange of the movable assembly. In embodiments the release actuator is spaced from the lifting actuator and the lowering actuator to prevent inadvertent actuation of the release actuator. In embodiments a flange of the movable assembly surrounds the bar.

Lifting and lowering tool

A knife includes a handle, a neck configured to hold a blade, and a lever configured to selectively release the blade from the neck. The lever is coupled to a blade lock arm configured to extend along a side of the blade. A ramped surface pushes the blade lock arm into the blade to press the blade against a side of the neck to clamp the blade to the side of the neck when the blade lock arm is in a blade locked position.

Pivoting ramped blade lock

A utility knife includes a handle base and a neck connected to the handle base for pivotal movement relative to the handle base between a closed position and an open position. The knife also includes a utility blade holder slidingly carried by the neck for sliding movement relative to the neck between a retracted position and an extended position. A utility blade is carried by the blade holder such that movement of the utility blade holder between its extended and retracted positions moves the utility blade between an exposed position in which a cutting edge of the blade is exposed, and a protected position in which the cutting edge of the blade is protected by the neck.

Utility knife

A tool includes a housing, a blade receptacle within the housing configured to receive a removable saw blade having a lock engaging region, and a blade release actuator adjacent to the blade receptacle, the blade release actuator being rotatable about an axis associated therewith and configured to selectively move a lock member into the lock engaging region. The blade release actuator comprises a ramp on which the lock member rests. Rotation of the blade release actuator rotates the ramp under the lock member from a blade locked position where the lock member is pushed by the ramp into the lock engaging region of the removable saw blade to a blade release position where the ramp is rotated to create a gap between the lock engaging region and the blade release actuator such that the saw blade is removable from the tool.

Folding multi saw

A utility knife includes a blade holder slidably connected to the handle. A blade lock pivotally connects to the blade holder for movement relative to the blade holder about a blade lock axis between a locked position and a released position. The blade lock axis forms an acute angle &#x3b1; with a lateral direction of the knife so that a surface of the blade lock that is configured to engage the utility blade moves both laterally and vertically as the blade lock moves between its locked and released positions. A blade release trigger is conveniently disposed well rearwardly of a front of the handle. The knife includes a sealed blade storage compartment with a manually openable cover. A seal disposed between the compartment and cover discourages water and/or debris from getting into the compartment when the cover is closed.

Utility knife with skewed pivotal blade lock

A clamp assembly that can be installed on and removed from its mounting on an elongated structure (e.g., 2&#xd7;4) without the need for sliding past an end of the structure is disclosed. The clamp assembly may include a pair of clamp bodies with pads for engaging a workpiece. Each of the clamp bodies includes a clamp mount with a movable member arranged to be moved into forced engagement with an exterior surface (e.g., side) of the 2&#xd7;4 to fix the clamp body on the 2&#xd7;4. At least one of or both of the clamp bodies include a releasable connection that, when released, allows for the removal of the clamp body from the 2&#xd7;4 without the need to longitudinally slide the body past an end of the 2&#xd7;4.

Clamp assembly

A utility knife includes a handle, a blade holder assembly, and a clamp assembly. The blade holder assembly is constructed and arranged to hold a blade at a position of use at one end of the handle. The clamp assembly is constructed and arranged to move between a clamp position wherein the clamp assembly applies a clamp force to side surfaces the blade and a release position wherein the clamp assembly releases the clamping force.

Utility knife with blade lock

A clamp includes a first jaw, a second jaw, a first connection, a second connection, and an actuator. The first jaw and the second jaw include a first clamp surface and a second clamp surface, respectively. The first connection operatively connects the first jaw to the second jaw in a manner that permits relative movement between the first jaw and the second jaw. The second connection is operatively connected between the first jaw and the second jaw. The actuator is configured to shorten a length of the second connection to thereby reduce a relative distance between the first clamp surface and the second clamp surface.

Clamp

A modular saw arrangement includes a main saw frame structure and a detachable handle structure. A second end portion of the detachable handle structure includes a first blade connector and a second blade connector. A blade tensioner arrangement of the main saw frame structure and the first blade connector are configured to be connected with opposite ends of a blade when a first end portion of the detachable handle structure is connected with an upper frame portion of the main saw frame structure so as to form a hacksaw configuration. The second blade connector that enables attachment of the blade in a grip configuration to enable the detachable handle structure to be configured as a stand-alone detachable handle saw when the first end portion is disconnected with the upper frame portion.

Modular saw

A utility knife includes a handle, a blade holder assembly, and a resilient blade wiper. The handle includes an opening at a front end. The blade holder assembly is constructed and arranged to hold a blade at a position of use wherein the blade projects through the opening at the front end of the handle, and to retract the blade into the handle. The resilient blade wiper is constructed and arranged to be positioned toward the front end of the handle. The blade wiper is constructed and arranged to remove debris from side surfaces of the blade when the blade is retracted into the handle.

A knife includes a body, a retractable blade slider, a blade snapper, and a manually engageable lock. The retractable blade slider is constructed and arranged to position a multi-blade blade assembly at a position of use wherein at least a forward most blade projects through an opening at one end of the body, and to retract the blade assembly into the body. The blade snapper is removably locked to the body. The blade snapper is constructed and arranged snap-off at least one or more blades from the blade assembly. The manually engageable lock is constructed and arranged to move between a lock position and an unlock position, wherein the movement of the manually engageable lock to the unlock position releases the blade snapper from the body.

A compact utility knife includes a blade holder slidably connected to a handle. A trapezoidal utility blade detachably mounts to the blade holder via a blade lock mechanism. A slide lock mechanism selectively retains the blade holder in its extended or retracted position relative to the handle. When the blade holder is extended, the blade holder and a majority of the blade extend forwardly of a forwardmost point of the handle. Extending the blade holder significantly increases an overall length of the knife such that the knife is comfortable to use when in the extended position and longitudinally compact when in the retracted position. The knife includes a blade lock mechanism. An aperture in the front of the handle creates a gap between the blade and the handle to discourage debris on the blade from transferring to the handle when the blade is retracted.

Compact utility knife

A knife having a body and a slide member slideable in the body. The slide member engages a blade assembly that is arranged to move with the slide member. The slide member is movable to position the blade assembly at a position of use and a release position wherein the blade assembly can be released from the slide member. The slide member is movable to retract the blade assembly into the knife body. The knife also includes an actuator member that can be actuated to move the slide member to a disengaged configuration wherein the blade assembly can be disengaged from the slide member to permit the release therefrom. The positioning of the blade assembly at the release position and subsequent movement of the slide member to the disengaged configuration by actuation of the actuator member releases the blade assembly from the slide member.

Quick change snap off knife

A handsaw includes a handle and a blade. The handle includes a lock assembly. The blade is releaseably mountable on the handle and includes a lock engaging region located toward one end thereof. The lock assembly includes a lock structure and a manually enagageable actuator. The lock structure is movable between a lock position in which it lockingly engages the lock engaging region to lock the blade to the handle, and a release position in which the lock structure is released from engagement with the lock engaging region to enable the blade to be released from the handle. The actuator is manually actuatable to move the lock structure from the lock position to the release position.
