A rotating ball valve may be employed in a liner hanger setting tool. A rotating ball member maintains contact with a valve seat throughout the operation of the rotating ball valve, thereby preventing debris from settling on the valve seat and compromising the integrity of a seal through a fluid flow path defined through the setting tool. The rotating ball valve may be actuated by selectively applying fluid pressure to the flow path, or by mechanical manipulation. Once the fluid flow path is closed, a latch may be activated to maintain the rotating ball valve in the closed configuration and a pressure may be applied against the closed rotating ball member. A downhole movement be induced by the applied pressure to drive an expansion cone through an expandable liner hanger, to secure a liner in the wellbore.

Provided, in one aspect, is a ball seat release apparatus. The ball seat release apparatus, according to this embodiment, includes a shear sleeve having a recess pocket and a ball seat body slidingly engaged within the shear sleeve, the ball seat body configured to move from a first linear position to a second linear position. The ball seat body further includes a longitudinal fluid passageway, a ball seat located in the longitudinal fluid passageway, one or more first fluid bypass ports coupling the longitudinal fluid passageway and an exterior of the ball seat body, the one or more first fluid bypass ports located on a first side of the ball seat, and one or more second fluid bypass ports coupling the longitudinal fluid passageway and the exterior of the ball seat body, the one or more second fluid bypass ports located on a second opposing side of the ball seat.

A system and method directed to performing a single trip cementing operation at spaced out locations within a hydrocarbon zone during the construction of a wellbore using a wellbore fluid communication tool. In an embodiment, the tool is deployed on a tubular string above the hydrocarbon zone and comprises a housing including at least one radial port, a seal assembly, an outer sleeve assembly having a door assembly operable to translate across the seal assembly while closed, an inner mandrel and a seat assembly. The tool facilitates the placement of cement within a wellbore annulus from an uphole position in lieu of at the bottom of the wellbore thereby minimizing the pressure required to perform cementing job. At the same time, the ability for the door assembly to translate across the seal assembly while closed ensures the seal is not damaged from repetitive opening and closing of the door assembly.

A junction system to line a lateral wellbore can include a junction assembly and a running tool. The junction assembly can include an anchor, a transition joint, a load transfer device, and a lateral liner. The running tool assembly can be configured to extend within a central bore of the junction assembly. The running tool assembly can include a setting tool to set the anchor and a locking device to permit transfer of axial or rotational force between the lateral liner and a work string.

A method for reverse circulation cementing of a liner in a wellbore extending through a subterranean formation is presented. A running tool with expansion cone, annular isolation device, and reverse circulation assembly is run-in with a liner. The annular isolation device is set against the casing. A valve, such as a dropped-ball valve, opens reverse circulation ports for the cementing operation. The liner annulus is cemented using reverse circulation. An expandable liner hanger, if present, is expanded into engagement with the casing. The running tool is released and pulled from the hole.

Reverse circulation cementing of a liner in a wellbore extending through a subterranean formation is presented. A running tool with expansion cone, release assembly, annular isolation device, and reverse circulation assembly is run-in with a liner. The annular isolation device is set against the casing. A valve, such as a dropped-ball operated sliding sleeve valve, opens reverse circulation ports for the cementing operation. The liner annulus is cemented using reverse circulation. The expandable liner hanger is expanded into engagement with the casing. Conventional circulation is restored. The running tool is released and pulled from the hole.
