A centerline support bar for steam turbine component assembly, installation, and/or alignment is disclosed. In one embodiment, the support bar includes a body portion configured to be disposed across a centerline of a steam turbine, the body portion configured to transversely connect to a steam turbine component; and a first flange extending from the body portion and configured to contact a steam turbine casing, wherein the steam turbine support bar is configured to non-affixedly join the steam turbine casing to the steam turbine component.

A support block for a steam turbine casing, a related assembly and apparatus. Various embodiments include a steam turbine casing support block having: a body portion sized to substantially fill a pocket in a steam turbine casing, the body portion having a greater length than a depth or a width; a set of tabs extending from the body portion, each of the set of tabs sized to substantially fill a corresponding slot in the steam turbine casing, wherein the set of tabs are located at a radially outwardly facing wall of the body portion; and a pin hole on a bottom surface of the body portion for receiving a retaining member.

A steam turbine is provided. The steam turbine includes a rotor shaft including a plurality of buckets coupled thereto. The steam turbine further includes a stationary component coupled to a steam turbine casing, wherein the stationary component is coupled upstream from the buckets such that a wheelspace is defined between the buckets and the stationary component. The stationary component includes a first ring coupled to the steam turbine, a second ring coupled to the steam turbine radially inward from the first ring, and at least one airfoil extending between the first ring and the second ring. The steam turbine includes a cooling fluid flowpath defined through at least the first ring, the airfoil, and the second ring. The cooling fluid flowpath is configured to channel a cooling fluid to the wheelspace.

Apparatus for cooling rotary components within a steam turbine

A system may cool a wheel of a steam turbine, the wheel being associated with a rotor of the steam turbine. The system may include an inlet passage and an outlet passage. The inlet passage may be positioned to communicate steam from an exterior of the rotor, through an interior of the rotor, and to the wheel. The outlet passage may be positioned to communicate steam from the wheel, through the interior of the rotor, and to the exterior of the rotor.

A method of fabricating a turbine rotor is provided. The method includes fabricating a plurality of substantially cylindrical disks. Fabricating each disk includes fabricating a substantially cylindrical body and extending a bore substantially concentrically through the body. The method also includes coupling at least two of the plurality of disks together to form a rotor having a bore extending axially therethrough.

Disclosed herein is a rotor assembly for a steam turbine including a stacked rotor section having rotor plates. The rotor plates include a main body portion having a plate shape and a first axial face and a second axial face opposite to the first axial face. The rotor plates also include an airfoil base surface at an outer radial edge of the main body portion. The rotor plates further include buckets which extend radially outward from the airfoil base surface. And the rotor plates yet further include a seal disposed to prevent steam exposure to the first and second axial faces.

The steampath for a steam turbine includes stacked stator rings each mounting inwardly directed nozzles and stacked rotor wheels each mounting outwardly directed buckets mounting blades. By alternately stacking the stator rings and rotor wheels, the nozzles and buckets of the various stages are interdigitated to form a steampath. Each bucket includes a blade and a root received in a generally complementary shaped groove on a wheel.

The coupling between discrete axially aligned first and second turbine shafts includes a flange on one end of one shaft and a rotor wheel on the other shaft. Holes in axial alignment with one another through the flange and rotor wheel receive fastening elements securing the rotor wheel and flange to one another, thereby securing the shaft sections to one another. The fastening elements engage segments on the side of the rotor wheel remote from the flange to facilitate clamping of the flange and rotor wheel to one another. The segments also include outer arcuate surfaces which form sealing surfaces with radially opposed labyrinth teeth of packing ring segments forming part of the turbine diaphragms.

Apparatus and methods for coupling axially aligned turbine rotors

A cover is provided to conceal the forward-facing step defined by the protrusion of the first stage diaphragm into the LP inlet. The cover presents a smoothly contoured surface to the flowing fluid in both radial and circumferential directions and thus reduces energy loss of the working fluid, thereby to increase performance of the LP turbine.
