A cover assembly for an electrical box, such as a fire-rated poke through, includes a frame defining an opening, the frame including a first frame location and a second frame location, the first frame location being substantially opposite the second frame location, a cover movable between a closed position over the opening and an open position away from the opening, the cover having a perimeter including a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end being substantially opposite the distal end, and a hinge attaching the cover to the rear frame portion, the hinge having two substantially parallel pivot axes, at least one of which is movable towards and away from the other, one pivot axis located at the first frame location and the other pivot axis located at the proximal end of the cover. This construction provides a cover assembly for an electrical box that allows ready access to utility interfaces within the box, while preventing unwanted fluid and debris from damaging the junction box or utility interfaces below the cover assembly.

A tamper resistant receptacle having cooperating shutter mechanisms wherein each shutter member has a lead-in cam surface having a steep initial point of contact and a flatter sliding surface (tangent fillets) to provide both an advantageous point of contact while also providing sufficient lateral clearance to un-shutter a blade opening, or lead-in cam surface having a continuously convex radius thereby providing a curved surface for the entire length of the camming operation, or a lead-in surface comprising a roller disposed in a fillet of a slide block cam surface.

A raceway bridge assembly is provided for carrying wires or cables over an intersecting raceway or other object without interfering with the intersecting raceway. The raceway bridge assembly includes a pair of opposing bridge fittings and a connecting raceway section extending between the raceway fittings. The bridge fittings have a first open end lying in a first plane and a second open end lying in a second plane spaced above said first open end. The bridge fittings have side walls that are coupled to a cover of a raceway section. A top wall is removably coupled to an upper edge of the sidewalls of the bridge fitting and is coupled to the connecting raceway section.

A cover fitting for connecting more than one raceway includes an L-shaped top having first and second curved grooves extending along the inner surface of the top and a plurality of hooks extending outwardly from the inner surface for engaging a portion of each raceway base. The cover fitting further includes first and second opposing sides extending from the inner surface of the top. The cover fitting can be used with a fitting base received in first and second grooves for situations requiring a specific bend radius, or in applications without a fitting base, where there are no bend radius requirements.

A method of connecting two raceways, comprising the steps of joining respective ends of first and second raceways at a first junction area so that the ends of the first and second raceways engage and form a miter joint at the first junction area, coupling a first cover fitting over the first junction area so that a portion of the first cover fitting engages each end, respectively, of the first and second raceways, joining respective ends of third and fourth raceways at a second junction area so that the ends of the third and fourth raceways are spaced from one another at the second junction area with a curved base disposed therebetween, and coupling a second cover fitting over the second junction area so that a portion of the second cover fitting engages each end of the third and fourth raceways, respectively.

Raceway assembly having a corner cover member

A raceway assembly includes a raceway and a cover assembly removably coupled to the raceway. The cover assembly is mounted flush on the raceway to avoid restriction of the channels formed in the raceway. The cover assembly includes at least one base that is snapped onto the raceway for supporting a wiring device and includes an access opening for accessing wires or cables in the raceway. The base can be used alone or can be assembled in a ganged relation with an identical base. A cover having an access opening is coupled to the base to enclose the base and the electrical data, telecommunications device. A face plate covers the access opening of the cover and is attached to the wiring device to secure the cover to the wiring device, base and raceway.

A covering fitting for connecting more than one raceway includes an L-shaped top having first and second curved grooves extending along the inner surface of the top and a plurality of hooks extending outwardly from the inner surface for engaging a portion of each raceway base. The cover fitting further includes first and second opposing sides extending from the inner surface of the top. The cover fitting can be used with a fitting base received in first and second grooves for situations requiring a specific bend radius, or in applications without a fitting base, where there are no been radius requirements.

A feed through receptacle box assembly includes a base and a housing for supporting a receptacle and connecting to a raceway. A channel member is removably coupled to the base to provide a closed passage for feeding a wire or cable through the housing to isolate the wire or cable from the receptacle. The receptacle can be a duplex electrical receptacle or a telecommunications port that is connected to a respective wire or cable passing through the raceway. In embodiments, the channel member includes at least one intermediate wall forming a plurality of side-by-side passages. The channel member includes frangible lines for separating a portion of the channel member to allow access to a respective wire or cable passing through the passages of the channel member.

A contact member or bridge for an electrical connector includes a bridge strap with a base plate and an abutment member coupled to and extending from the bridge strap. The base plate extends substantially perpendicular to the bridge strap and has an internally threaded bore. An abutment member extends adjacent a side edge of the base plate, and has planar surface extending perpendicularly to and facing the base plate. A clamping plate overlies the base plate, has a substantially straight side edge adjacent the planar surface and has a through bore. A screw extends through the bore in the clamping plate and threadedly engages the threaded bore in the base plate.

A ceiling feed assembly is adaptable to fit with any one of three prior art raceways having different cross-sectional configurations. The ceiling feed assembly includes a ceiling fitting having a base and a cover on the base. The base is mountable to a wall and the cover is removably interfittable with the base. The cover has a front panel including a first opening and first and second removable portions. The first portion is removable from the front panel for defining a second opening in the front panel of a different configuration from and overlapping a portion of the first opening. The second portion is removable from the front panel for defining a third opening in the front panel of a different configuration from the second opening and of a different configuration from and overlapping at least a portion of the first opening. The first, second and third openings are for respectively receiving first, second and third raceways having different first, second and third cross-sectional configurations. The assembly also includes a raceway adapter disposable adjacent to and aligned with the front panel of the cover about the third opening in the front panel of the cover. The adapter is configured to receive and at least partially fit around the third raceway and also interfits with a portion of the front panel of the cover such that the adapter blocks a portion of the first opening of the front panel above the third opening thereof.

Ceiling feed assembly adaptable to fit raceways having different cross-sectional configurations

An enhanced terminal screw for use in an electrical receptacle includes a shank, a head and a plurality of impeller wire gripping elements. The shank has opposite ends. The head is mounted to one of the opposite ends of the shank. The head has an underside surface defining a plurality of spaced apart grooves. The impeller wire gripping elements are defined by a plurality of lands formed between the spaced apart grooves on the underside surface of the head which grip a wire partially surrounding the shank and wrap the wire radially inwardly toward the shank as the screw is tightened relative to the wire. Each land has opposite edges providing a gripping surface.

A four-sided ground contact assembly for use in an electrical receptacle includes a first contact element and a second contact element. Each of the first and second contact elements is mounted to a mounting bridge of the electrical receptacle. The first contact element has a pair of opposing contact leg portions and a base portion. The second contact element has a pair of opposing contact leg portions and a base portion The leg portions of the first and second contact elements are circumferentially spaced from one another and provide four points of contact on four sides of a ground pin of an electrical plug. The base portion of the first contact element is integral with the mounting bridge and the base portion of the second contact element is disposed above and fastened to the base portion of the first contact element and thus to the mounting bridge.
