A contact lens case includes a cup adapted to receive a quantity of disinfecting or cleaning solution and a cap removably closing the opening mouth of the cup. A lens support structure is associated with the cap and holds a pair of lenses within the cup. The lens support structure includes a base plate which supports one of a pair of the lenses on each side thereof and basket means pivotally connected to the base plate for enclosing the lenses in overlying position and maintaining the lenses on the base plate. A latch structure releasably maintains the basket means in the overlying position, and includes a flexible, integral extension peripherally formed on each basket means and is releasably retained in the overlying position by snap-fit against the hook member laterally projecting from the base plate. Preferably, a pair of the flexible extensions are formed as vertically aligned and thinned notches on opposing edges of each basket, which are snap-fit against a corresponding pair of hooks formed on each side of the base plate. The latches for each basket are paired to prevent any slippage of the lens from the correctly centered position on the base plate which could lead to pinching of the lens during snap-fit opening or closing of the respective basket.

Lens case for contact lens disinfecting

A novel fluid infusion system utilizing a fluid pump device and a syringe is used in an intravenous or infusion application of a liquid product, such as a medication, to a patient. The pump device includes a housing that has a compartment for reception of at least a portion of the plunger of the syringe. A drive component is disposed in the compartment and is relatively movable with respect to the housing for engaging and producing movement of the plunger. A fluid medium is contained within the housing and a relatively movable piston is in operative communication with the fluid medium and a biasing structure is provided for biasing the piston in a first direction to impart a force on the fluid medium. A metering orifice is in communication with the fluid medium and through which the medium can pass upon movement of the piston in the first direction to restrict and control the flow of the medium. Valve structure for the fluid medium permits the rapid return movement of the piston in a second direction opposite the first direction. The piston is operatively associated with the drive component, such that the movement of the piston in the first direction is transferred to the drive component with the metering orifice in effect controlling the rate of movement of the piston and the drive component and correspondingly the movement of the plunger thereby controlling the rate of expulsion of the liquid product from the syringe.

Drug infusion system

A collector unit for collecting tissue or bone from a dental patient during a dental implant procedure generally includes a cover member, a filter support member, a filter medium and a gasket member. The support member is mountable within the cover member with the gasket member positioned therebetween to form the unit. A passage is provided through the unit to allow the passage of fluid material through the unit. The support member has a pair of spaced-apart, opposed filter support arms for removably supporting a substantially flat section of filter medium so that the filter medium overlies the inlet passage such that fluid material passing through the unit must pass through the filter medium which will filter out any bone or tissue specimens. The filter medium is removable from the supporting structure so that it can be positioned in a flat-orientation to facilitate the removal of bone or tissue specimens therefrom. Once removed, the filter medium cannot be reattached to the supporting structure. A pair of latch arms releasably secure the cover member and the support member together. The gasket member provides an integral one-way valve which normally blocks the inlet passage and can be moved out of association with the inlet passage to provide a path for the flow of fluid material through the unit.

Autogenous bone specimen collector

A lancet actuator device and mechanism for sequentially advancing and retracting a lancet blade include a housing having an opening for operating projection of the lancet blade. The actuator mechanism includes a drive spring structure insertably mounted in the housing and arranged to drive pivotal motion of the lancet blade including sequential thrusting of the blade from the housing aperture followed by immediate pivotally reverse retracting of the blade from the aperture into the housing as the spring deengerizes.

Rotary lancet

An infant supporting and positioning system for retaining and supporting an infant in a selected position. The supporting and positioning system includes a generally horizontally oriented base which has a primary surface in which is formed a plurality of bores. The system includes a plurality of infant positioning modules each of which have a body portion and at least one post projecting from the body portion. The posts are sized and dimensioned for cooperative engagement with a corresponding one of the plurality of the bores in the base. The posts interfit with the bores with sufficient interference to maintain the modules in the selected position relative to the base. The interference between the posts and bores allow for removal of a post from a bore to change the position of the corresponding module as necessary to configure the system to achieve desired infant support and positioning. The infant support and positioning system is generally covered with a vapor barrier and padded layer to provide additional protection and comfort.

Infant positioning device

A liquid dispensing container particularly for single-use dispensing if eye medication and self-application if eye drop. The container for the liquid storage cavity has a molded plastic housing and a flexible cavity wall. The wall is manually squeezable or deformable to enable a reduction in the volume of the cavity and compression and displacement of the medication therefrom. The plastic housing has an integrally molded nozzle which combine to control displaced flow and drop size of the dispensed medication.

A fluid pumping assembly for particular use in delivery of sterile fluid used in surgical procedures, includes a pump control structure to which a replaceable fluid pumping cartridge is connected and disconnected to provide convenient replacement and disposability of the cartridge. The pump cartridge is self-contained in that it includes a fluid pump which is adapted for automatic connection to a pump drive structure when the cartridge is inserted into the assembly, so that the sterile fluid is pumped only through the pumping cartridge and fluid flow is entirely isolated from the pump control structure to ensure that the fluid is maintained sterile during pumping. The cartridge can include a selectively activated pulsation control to enable discharging the fluid from the cartridge in either a continuous flow or pulsating flow of the fluid. The cartridge can also include fluid flow dampening and safety vent features. The pump control structure can provide a pneumatic drive system which cycles pressurized air to drive the pump. A pneumatic control valve provides cycled switching of alternating air pressure and exhaust communication with the pump.

The foil wall is also conveniently printed with labelling text and color. A container for storing and dispensing liquid includes a housing having a primary fluid storage cavity for a first liquid, for example, concentrated hydrogen peroxide, and a separate reservoir chamber within the housing so that a second diluent liquid within the reservoir chamber is normally isolated from the primary liquid and storage cavity. An internally movable member within the housing cooperates with the reservoir chamber to form a detent structure which provides selective interference reinforcement to ensure the integrity of sealing between the reservoir chamber and the cavity. The movable member is selectively displaced to relieve the interference reinforcement and sealing and to create a pathway for flow communication from the chamber into the cavity enabling an inter-mixture of the second diluent fluid and the primary fluid. For example, a diluent such as water can be stored and selectively dilute the residue of a primary hydrogen peroxide solution sufficiently to a reduced concentration which will be non-hazardous in subsequent general refuse disposal. In the illustrated embodiment, the reservoir chamber is formed within a cap structure on the housing in which a metallic foil wall forms the upper wall of both the reservoir chamber and the cap. A tubular conduit extends from and selectively moves with respect to the cap. The detent structure includes a catch structure peripherally formed on the tubular conduit and a seat structure engaged by the catch structure is formed on the reservoir chamber so that selective movement of the tubular conduit relieves the interference reinforcement and sealing by the detent structure when the primary and second fluids are intermixed.

Fluid pumping system and apparatus

An integral socket assembly with insert molded metal support structure is molded as a unit and is mounted on a headlamp assembly to enable adjusting the headlamp alignment. The integral socket assembly includes a support bracket which is secured to the headlamp structure, and integrally molded with the support bracket are coupling sockets for receiving the coupling members formed on movable adjusting screws which translate to adjust the orientation of the integral socket assembly and the headlamp structure secured thereto. The support bracket has a metal reinforcing element insert molded therein to reinforce the structural integrity of the bracket and the securement to the headlamp structure. The coupling socket can also include a seal member removably covering an entrance opening to the socket cavity in order to prevent entry of debris into the coupled joint.
