One example system includes a biosensor applicator having a housing defining a cavity configured to receive and physically couple to a biosensor device, and to apply the biosensor device to a wearer; an applicator coil antenna oriented around a first axis; and a biosensor device including a biosensor coil antenna; a first wireless transceiver electrically coupled to the biosensor coil antenna; a Bluetooth antenna; and a second wireless transceiver coupled to the Bluetooth antenna; wherein the biosensor device is physically coupled to the biosensor applicator and positioned at least partially within the cavity; and wherein the applicator coil antenna is configured to wirelessly receive electromagnetic ('EM') energy from a remote coil antenna and wirelessly provide at least a first portion of the received EM energy to the biosensor coil antenna.

Systems and methods for sensors with multimode wireless communications and for enabling NFC communications with a wearable biosensor

The present disclosure relates to implantable neuromodulation devices, and in particular to a wireless power coil in a low profile environment such as with a neurostimulator. Particularly, aspects of the present disclosure are directed to a medical device that comprises a lossy housing surrounding a power supply, and a receiving coil configured to exchange power wirelessly via a wireless power transfer signal and deliver the power to the power supply. The receiving coil is adjacent the lossy housing. The receiving coil is a helical structure with a total rise that is less than or equal to a height of the lossy housing.

The present disclosure relates to implantable neuromodulation devices, and in particular to a wireless power coil for a neuromodulation device that is to be implanted in a minimally invasive manner, for example, through a trocar or cannula. Particularly, aspects of the present disclosure are directed to a medical device that includes a lossy housing surrounding a power supply, and a receiving coil configured to exchange power wirelessly via a wireless power transfer signal and deliver the power to the power supply. The receiving coil is spaced a predetermined distance from the lossy housing. The medical device further includes a gap provided between the lossy housing and the receiving coil on a vertical plane, and a spacer that fills in at least a portion of the gap to maintain the lossy housing a predetermined distance from the receiving coil.

A wearable electronic device is described. The wearable electronic device includes two communications antennae. A first antenna of the two is a current-carrying antenna electrically and physically connected to a printed circuit board of the wearable electronic device and housed in a first portion of a housing that is configured for mounting on a person's skin. A second antenna of the two is a scatterer antenna physically connected to an interior surface of a second portion of the housing and configured to overlap a portion of the current-carrying antenna. The second portion of the housing faces away from the person's skin when the wearable device is mounted on the person's skin. Current from the current-carrying antenna is induced in the scatterer antenna to enable communications between the wearable electronic device and one or more other electronic devices.

Disclosed herein is a wearable device having a horizontally polarized antenna and a vertically polarized antenna to gain the benefit of both types of polarization resulting in optimal signal transmission to and reception by a user's smartphone or mobile device. The wearable device includes a printed circuit board on a first plane along which plane the signal from the horizontally polarized signal will propagate. The printed circuit board includes a conductive ground plane and a trace antenna conductively coupled on one end of the trace to the conductive ground plane between which the horizontally polarized field is generated when the trace antenna is excited. A vertical field enhancer, parallel to the first plane and a distance from the trace antenna, is coupled to the ground plane, such that when the trace antenna is excited, a vertically polarized field is generated between the trace antenna and the vertical field enhancer.

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for providing wireless power to implanted devices. Consistent with some embodiments, a power system for providing wireless power to a device implanted in a body of an individual includes a first antenna loop that produces a first electromagnetic wave and at least one second antenna loop that produces a second electromagnetic wave. The first and second electromagnetic waves may interfere with one another to produce an interference pattern including interference maxima. Further, a location of at least one of the interference maxima may be at or substantially close to the device implanted in the body of the individual. A broad distribution pattern at the surface of the skin can reduce the specific absorption rate of the transmission, while focusing the transmission toward the implanted device improves the antenna system's transfer efficiency.

Systems and methods for providing wireless power to deep implanted devices

Techniques and mechanisms for determining a direction of gaze by a user of an ophthalmic device. In an embodiment, at least a portion of a magnetic field is generated by one of the ophthalmic device and an auxiliary reference device while the ophthalmic device is disposed in or on an eye of the user, and while the auxiliary reference device is adhered on the user's skin or under a surface of the skin. The ophthalmic device and the auxiliary reference device interact with each other via a magnetic field, and the interaction is detected with one or more sensors of the ophthalmic device. In another embodiment, the ophthalmic device stores predetermined reference information which corresponds various magnetic field signal characteristics each with a different respective direction of gaze. Based on the sensor information and the reference information, a controller of the ophthalmic device determines a direction in which the eye of the user is gazing.

The present disclosure relates to computerized systems and methods for determining the location and orientation of implanted devices. Consistent with some embodiments, power levels of near-field signals are backscattered from an implanted device. The backscattered near-field signals may be detected by an ex-vivo antenna array. The determined power levels may be used to identify candidate location and orientation combinations based on a data set. The data set may be generated by calibrating the antenna array to the implanted device. A candidate location and orientation combination among the identified candidate combinations may be selected as the location and orientation of the implanted device.

Systems and methods for determining the location and orientation of implanted devices

The present disclosure relates to systems for providing wireless power to implanted devices. Consistent with some embodiments, an antenna system for providing wireless power to an implanted device includes a primary antenna loop and at least one parasitic antenna loop. The primary antenna loop is configured to receive power from a power source and radiate the power toward the implanted device. The at least one parasitic antenna loop is configured to absorb a portion of the radiated power and to reradiate the absorbed power toward the implanted device. The power radiated by the primary antenna loop and the power reradiated by the at least one parasitic antenna loop form a wireless power transmission pattern broadly distributed at the surface of the individual's skin and becomes more focused as it travels into the individual's body toward the implanted device. The broad distribution pattern at the surface of the skin reduces the specific absorption rate of the transmission while focusing the transmission as it toward the implanted device improves the antenna system's transfer efficiency.
