A slicing apparatus and methods of using a slicing apparatus are provided. The apparatus can include a base configured to rest on a horizontal surface, a vertically extending cutting area generally perpendicular to the horizontal surface, and a food carriage for laterally moving and rotating a food item engaged with the food carriage. The cutting area can include blades angled relative to each other, and a multi-blade tool that allows adjustment and selection of different blades.

A shoe-cover dispenser is described, including, for example, features that facilitate the simultaneous loading of multiple shoe covers and/or features that prevent incomplete release of shoe covers. The shoe-cover dispenser can include a shell and a removable shoe-cover cartridge sized to fit within the shell. The removable shoe-cover cartridge can be configured to releasably hold a plurality of shoe covers, such as by releasably holding three or more clips attached to an elastic element of each shoe cover. These clips can be preloaded into the removable shoe-cover cartridge prior to delivery to an end-user. Release of a shoe cover can be initiated by downward movement of a foot pad. To prevent tilting of the foot pad, the shell can include a guide plate substantially abutting a substantially vertical side of the foot pad and/or an alignment rod positioned within a substantially vertical hole in the foot pad.

A portable auxiliary power source includes a clamshell-type housing including a top section or cover and a bottom section hingedly connected together. The housing provides a watertight chamber which fully encloses all internal components. Disposed within the housing are a battery, a pair of charging cables, and a pair of charging clamps. Also disposed within the housing is a control panel which includes a work light, battery charge status indicators, a charge status button, battery monitoring circuitry, an on/off switch. Further the control panel may include a 12 volt charging port, an AC charging port, and a 12 volt DC socket. The control panel provides a storage tray for storage of the charging cables and charging clamps.
