A system may include one or more transmitter processing modules each having at least one of a plurality of modulation elements arranged in parallel. Each modulation element may be configured to modulate a respective baseband data signal at a different rate than other modulation elements. The system may include one or more receiver processing modules each having a plurality of demodulation elements arranged in parallel. Each demodulation element may be configured to demodulate a respective baseband data signal at a different rate than other demodulation elements. The system may include a first antenna for transmitting signals and a second antenna for receiving signals. One or more isolation systems may be used to actively cancel electromagnetic interference received by the receiving antenna from the transmitting antenna.

Multi-spectrum high data rate communications system with electromagnetic interference cancellation

A compensation apparatus for an integrated communication system is disclosed. The integrated communication system can include a first communication device having a first transmitter antenna, and a second communication device having a second receiver antenna, wherein the second receiver antenna is in appreciable proximity of the first transmitter antenna such that the second receiver antenna picks up substantial electromagnetic interference from the first communication device. The compensation apparatus can include an isolation device having compensation circuitry coupling the first transmitter antenna and the second receiver antenna and configured to adaptively cancel the electromagnetic interference from the first communication device at the second receiver antenna.

High isolation multiple carrier system architecture for communications

An integrated circuit multiplexer comprises a waveguide having an interior cavity, first RF input port, and a first and second output ports; a dielectric structure positioned in the cavity; an RF input feed attached to the dielectric structure that extends through the RF input port; a first RF output feed attached to the dielectric structure that extends through the first RF output port; a second RF output feed attached to the dielectric structure that extends through the second RF output port; a first resonator pair mounted to the dielectric structure between the RF input feed and the first RF output feed, and electrically connected to the waveguide; and a second resonator pair mounted to the dielectric structure between the RF input feed and the second RF output feed, and electrically connected to the waveguide so that the first and second resonator pairs are generally coplanar. The waveguide is shaped as a right rectangular prism having a rectangular cross-sectional area characterized by a width L and a depth L , where L <(0.5)&lgr;, L <(0.25)&lgr;, and &lgr; represents the center wavelength of a radio frequency signal that is input into said waveguide so that the waveguide operates in an evanescent mode in response to receiving the radio frequency signal.

High rejection evanescent MIC multiplexers for multifunctional systems

A wideband antenna system comprises a stack of m antennas, where m is a positive integer, and m&gE;2. Each antenna includes: a) an electrically insulating substrate; b) opposed first and second radio frequency elements mounted to the substrate; c) a ground feed electrically connected to the first radio frequency element; d) an excitation feed electrically connected to the second radio frequency element; and e) a ground plane mounted to the substrate of the m antenna. The radio frequency elements of each antenna collectively have a unique total area and are mounted to the electrically insulating substrate. The radio frequency elements of the i antenna provide a ground plane for the k antenna, where i and k are positive integers, 1&lE;k&lE;(i&minus;1), and 2&lE;i&lE;m. The total area of the first and second radio frequency elements of the i antenna is greater than the total area of the first and second radio frequency elements of the k antenna.

Wideband antenna system

A matched pair circulator antenna isolation circuit provides isolation between an antenna and one or more receivers and transmitters and may also be applied to other RF devices. A portion of the transmit signal is extracted by a first RF circulator and divided into two phase-inverted signals. The first phase-inverted signal is coupled through a first directional coupler to cancel most of the transmit signal present in the receive signal. The second phase-inverted signal is coupled through a second directional coupler to cancel remaining transmit signal in the output of the first directional coupler. The output of the second directional coupler is coupled to the input of the receiver.

Matched pair circulator antenna isolation circuit

An optically controlled frequency selective surface (FSS) includes an electrically conductive layer having an array of radio frequency scattering elements such as slots formed in an electrically conductive layer or loops mounted to a substrate. Photonically controlled elements, such as photo-diodes, photo-transistors, and other photo-electronic devices, are connected across each of the scattering elements. Electromagnetic characteristics of the FSS, including resonant frequency, impedance, and the pass/stop band, may be modulated by controlling the degree of illumination of the photonically controlled elements.

Opto-electronically controlled frequency selective surface

An opto-electronically controlled waveguide includes a waveguide; a finline mounted in the waveguide; a photovoltaic switch operably electrically cected to the finline; and a light source for generating an optical signal for modulating the photovoltaic switch. Modulation of the photovoltaic switch by intensity modulating the optical signal allows modulation of the insertion loss of the waveguide without the need for a DC bias.

An isolation circulator network includes three circulators and a 180 degree ybrid coupler for isolating an RF transmitter from a nearby RF receiver. The isolation circulator network comprises: a first circulator for transforming a first RF signal, RF.sub.1, into a second RF signal, RF.sub.2 and a third RF signal, RF.sub.3 ; a second circulator for throughputting the third RF signal; a third circulator for transforming the second RF signal into a fourth RF signal, RF.sub.4, and a fifth RF signal, RF.sub.5, and for throughputting a sixth RF signal, RF.sub.6 ; and a 180-degree hybrid coupler which provides a seventh RF signal, RF.sub.7 in response to receiving the third, fifth, and sixth RF signals, where RF.sub.7 =(RF.sub.5 -RF.sub.3 +RF.sub.6).

Wideband high isolation circulatior network

A broadband coplanar waveguide to slotline transition for transferring radio frequency energy having a wavelength, .lambda., comprises: 1) a dielectric substrate having a first planar surface; an electrically conductive layer formed on the first planar surface; 2) a coplanar waveguide including: a) a center conductor defined by a section of the electrically conductive layer bordered by first and second parallel channels formed in the electrically conductive layer so as to expose the dielectric substrate; b) a first ground plane defined by a section of the electrically conductive layer bordering the first channel; and c) a second ground plane defined by a section of the electrically conductive layer bordering the second channel; 3) a slot cavity formed in the electrically conductive layer so as to expose an area of the dielectric substrate, the slot cavity coextensive with the first channel and having a periphery such that the length of a line segment intersecting two points of the periphery and a centroid of the area is approximately .lambda./4; and 3) a slotline defined by a third channel formed in the electrically conductive layer which is coextensive with the second channel.

Broadband coplanar waveguide to slotline transition having a slot cavity

A uniplanar microstrip to slotline transition is provided which includes a ubstrate having opposed first and second sides. A first electrically conductive layer is joined to the first side of the insulating substrate; and a second electrically conductive layer is joined to the second side of the substrate. The second layer is configured to provide a microstrip, a microstrip transmission mode to slotline transmission mode transition having a matching element, and a slotline.
