Remaining material on a material package and its location may be determined. First, image data associated with a material package may be received by a server. Next, material package data associated with the material package may be received. A Machine Learning (ML) model may then be used to determine an estimated remaining amount of material associated with the material package based upon input derived from the image data and the material package data.

Next, a weight of the material package that has been used subsequent to the material package being used may be received and, based upon the beacon code and in response to receiving the weight of the material package; the material database for a material package record may be queried. A remaining amount of material corresponding to the material package may be calculated based upon the received weight and data from the material package record found from the material package record.

First, a weight of the material package may be received in response to the ingress of the material package back into an operations area. Next, a remaining amount of material corresponding to the material package may be calculated based upon the received weight and data from the material package record found from the material database query. The material package record may then be updated in the material database with the calculated remaining amount of material corresponding to the material package.

The present disclosure is generally directed towards calculating a remaining length of a cable on a cable reel. Generally, a first distance between a top edge of a first flange of the cable reel and a top portion of the cable remaining on the cable reel is received at a processor. A winding characterization indicating a configuration of the cable wound on the cable reel is also received at the processor. Dimensions of the cable reel are also received at the processor and include: a diameter of the first flange, a cable reel traverse distance, and a diameter of a drum of the cable reel. The cable reel traverse distance indicates a distance between the first and second flanges of the cable reel. The remaining length of the cable on the cable reel is calculated based on the first distance, the winding characterization, and the dimensions of the cable reel.
