An improved overhead storage system for use in an aircraft includes a variable opening overhead storage bin that is configured to automatically open to an initial open position when a latch mechanism is released, to open further to a second open position when a force is applied to the bin, and to return to the initial open position when the force is removed. The variable opening overhead storage bin includes a first stop device configured to stop the bin at the initial open position, and a second stop device configured to stop the bin at the second open position. When in the initial open position, the variable opening overhead storage bin is angled to retain stowed articles within the bin. When the variable opening overhead storage bin is further opened to the second open position, the passenger's hands are in a better position to control articles stowed within the bin.

Variable opening overhead stowage bins and related methods

A method and apparatus operating a moveable partition. The moveable partition is configured for use with a first lavatory and a second lavatory. The moveable partition is further configured to separate the first lavatory and the second lavatory into separate spaces within a fixed perimeter for the first lavatory and the second lavatory when the moveable partition is in a first configuration. The moveable partition is further configured to define a single space within the fixed perimeter when the moveable partition is in a second configuration. The moveable partition is connected to a door for the first lavatory in the second configuration.

Lavatory reconfiguration system

A passenger services system of an aircraft includes a cabin services system of a passenger service unit in the aircraft. The passenger service unit is associated with a passenger seat of the aircraft. The passenger services system further includes an infrared transmitting unit associated with the passenger seat. The infrared transmitting unit is configured to send signals to control operation of the cabin services system. The passenger services system includes a control unit including an infrared receiver. The control unit is associated with the passenger service unit. The infrared receiver is configured to receive the signals from the infrared transmitting unit. The control unit is configured to control the operation of the cabin services system in response to receiving the signals.

Passenger services system for an aircraft

An ergonomically improved stowage system includes a supporting structure, a bin having a volume with an opening to receive a load, the bin being movable with respect to the supporting structure from a closed to an open position, and an attaching mechanism for attaching the bin to the structure. The attaching mechanism includes a bin pivot axis that is located in substantial alignment with a center of gravity of the bin in the closed position.

Overhead stowage bin load transfer and balance system

The disclosure provides for an aircraft video control station. In an embodiment, the aircraft video control station comprises a wall mounted control panel, a desktop, a seat that is stowed when not in use, and a cabinet that contains the wall mounted control panel, the desktop, and the seat. The cabinet may have a depth in the range of about 10 inches to about 37 inches, and preferably has a depth of 15 inches. The seat may be in the form of a swing out seat.

An integrated reading light and personal air outlet for a passenger service unit (PSU) employs a housing carried in the PSU with an air nozzle mounted within the housing and a light ring of light emitting diodes mounted to the housing surrounding the air nozzle. The housing is swivels in the PSU for orientation of a primary axis for directing a light beam from the LED light ring and the air nozzle separately swivels within the housing for orientation of a secondary axis for directing airflow from the nozzle.

An apparatus, system, and method includes a socket having a substantially spherical inner contour being accessible via an opening. A member having a partial spherical shape substantially similar to the spherical inner contour. A cross-sectional profile of the member is adapted to pass through the opening into the socket and to remain uncoupled with the socket when the socket and the member are in a first relative orientation. The member is further adapted to couple with the socket when the member is in the socket and in a second relative orientation with the socket.

Socket joint for tie-rod attachment system and method

A pivot assembly is provided including a first pivot boss having an engagement extension and a first race element having a central race socket. A central engagement bushing is rotatably secured within the central race socket and includes an engagement chamber adapted to removably engage the engagement extension. The central engagement bushing allows the first race element to rotate relative to the first pivot boss while remaining longitudinally engaged to the first fixed pivot boss.

Pivot mechanism for quick installation of stowage bins or rotating items

Aircraft frames having multiple bracket mounting holes, corresponding brackets, and associated methods are disclosed. An aircraft frame member in accordance with one embodiment of the invention includes multiple sets of mounting holes, each set having one or more mounting holes. Brackets in accordance with an embodiment of the invention can be attached to either of at least two of the sets of mounting holes, for example, using snap fit attachment devices or other attachment devices. Each bracket can support one or more components (e.g., insulation, wiring, ECS ducting) relative to the aircraft frame member. The bracket can also span between two or more aircraft frame members. Each bracket can be installed in any of a variety of positions without the use of tools and can support any of a variety of devices. Accordingly, the time and cost associated with manufacturing, inventorying, installing and repositioning the brackets and the devices they support can be reduced.
