A concrete lid for an in-ground utilities box includes a reinforcement structure filled with concrete. The reinforcement structure includes a plastic frame and one or more reinforcing trusses that extend between opposing sidewalls of the plastic frame. The reinforcing trusses also extend substantially between the upper and lower edges of the opposing sidewalls. For example, a reinforcing truss may include a flat truss member that is substantially coplanar with the lower edges of the sidewalls, and an arched truss member that extends towards (but does not reach) a plane defined by the upper edges of the sidewalls. The reinforcing trusses include openings that allow wet concrete to pass through. The sidewalls of the plastic frame protect the edges of the lid from damage. The reinforcing trusses reinforce the concrete lid, eliminating the need for separate reinforcement material.

Utilities access closure

A polymeric chair having a rebar cradle and legs of a T-shaped or U-shaped cross-section diverging downwardly from the cradle. The outer surface portions of the legs define segments of a cone. Inwardly extending web portions reinforce the legs. Feet at the distal ends of the legs are disposed to the inside of the outer surface portions. A flat sand plate for the chair has radially extending slots formed therethrough which are proportioned for snug engagement with side surfaces of the feet. The slots are elongate to accommodate different sized chairs having feet spaced at varying radial dimensions. The web portions taper to optimize their reinforcing function and conserve material. In one embodiment, a ring is formed integrally with the legs intermediate the table and the distal ends of the legs. The chair is of a unitary construction and may have an integrally formed strap for extension over the cradle to secure a rebar in place.

Rebar chair

A polymeric chair having a rebar cradle and legs of a T-shaped cross-section diverging downwardly from the cradle. The outer surface portions of the legs are arcuate and define segments of a cone. Inwardly extending web portions reinforce the legs and provide feet at the distal ends of the legs disposed to the inside of the outer surface portions. A flat sand plate for the chair has radially extending slots formed therethrough which are proportioned for snug engagement with side surfaces of the feet. The slots are elongate to accommodate different sized chairs having feet spaced at varying radial dimensions. The web portions taper to optimize their reinforcing function and conserve material. Rebar chair and supporting plate

A void former for positioning an anchor within a concrete structure is comprised of a hollow polymeric body having first and second sections hinged together for movement between a closed condition engageable around the anchor received therebetween and an open condition in which the sections are separated at the lower portions thereof to release the anchor received therebetween. The void former is monolithically formed by injection molding and includes integrally formed latch elements on the respective sections for mutual engagement to secure the sections in the closed condition and a bridge between the sections to provide a hinged connection therebetween. In the injection molding process the sections are formed so as to be positioned in the open condition. Upon removal from the injection mold, the sections are hinged relative to one another by bending the bridge therebetween, before the polymer is fully cured. Such bending aligns the molecules of the polymeric material within the bridge to enable the bridge to serve as a hinge and sustain repeated bending.
