There is disclosed an in-mould labelling process for the manufacture of a labelled article comprising the steps of: feeding a labelstock web into a mould; forming an article in the mould such that the formed article contacts and effectively adheres to a label of the labelstock web; detaching the adhered label from the labelstock web; and removing the formed and labelled article from the mould.

In-mould labelling process

The present invention provides a method of authenticating the provenance of an article marked with a removable transparent polymer film comprising measuring the thickness of the removable transparent film while still located on the article or of a layer within the film while still located on the article by white light interferometry. Alternatively, or in addition, the method comprises measuring the birefringence of the removable transparent polymer film while still located on the article or of a layer within the film while still located on the article.

Authentication of articles by white light interferometry and birefringence

There is disclosed a method of manufacturing an in-mold labelled article, the method comprising the steps of: placing a label comprising a film having a core comprising polypropylene/polyethylene random copolymer as its principal polymeric constituent into a mold for injection molding, thermoforming, or blow molding; holding the label in position; injecting a polymeric melt into, or thermoforming or blowing a polymeric preform in said mold so as to bind with the label; and removing the article from the mold. A process of in-mold labelling using such a label is also disclosed.

In-mould labelling

There is disclosed a process for manufacturing an in-mold labelled article, the process comprising the steps of: placing a label comprising a polyvinylidene chloride coated film () into a mold for injection molding, thermoforming, or blow molding; holding the label in position; injecting a polymeric melt into, or thermoforming or blowing a polymeric preform in said mold so as to bind with the label; and removing the article from the mold. A process of in-mold labelling using a label comprising a polyvinylidene chloride coated film is also disclosed.
