An anastomosis device has first and second components which each having first and second parts. The first and second components are magnetically attracted to one another. The device forms a throughhole when in use. The first parts of the first and second components are positioned radially outward from the second parts relative to the longitudinal axis with the first parts of the first and second components contacting one another and being magnetically attracted to one another. The second parts of the first and second components also being magnetically attracted to one another and are separated by the vessel walls.

Devices and methods for forming magnetic anastomoses between vessels

Methods, devices and systems for forming magnetic anastomoses between two blood vessels. A first anastomotic component is removably supported by the distal end of a delivery device for attachment to a first vessel. The delivery device also supports a second anastomotic component that has been secured to a second blood vessel. The device is operated to secure the first component to the first vessel, couple the second component to the first component, and then release the components to complete the anastomosis. A robotic anastomosis system includes several robotic instruments that may be positioned through ports in a patient, used to secure an anastomotic component to a vessel, and then used to magnetically couple the components. Delivery devices for deploying magnetic anastomotic components include an actuator that uses magnetic repulsion to move the components into engagement with the inner and outer surfaces of the vessel wall. The anastomotic components are secured to the vessel wall by magnetic force and in addition may be secured by mechanical attachment.

Methods, devices and systems for forming magnetic anastomoses

Improved systems, devices, and methods for deployment of endoluminal prostheses within the lumens of the body, and particularly for deployment of stents and stent-grafts within the vascular system. Optionally a sheath is withdrawn from over a tightly compressed prostheses using an actuation mechanism having a variable mechanical advantage, which varies with the position of the sheath. The handle for the actuation mechanism may rotate about an axis parallel to the axis of the sheath. The deployment systems of the present invention will preferably include a &ldquo;one-way&rdquo; rotation mechanism, thereby avoiding any inadvertent counter-rotation of the handle causing undesirable movement of the prosthesis or delivery system.
