A system and method for processing a document to generate a set of related documents. A system is provided that includes a textual analytics system that analyzes unstructured data contained in a source document and extracts a set of structured information about the source document; and a compare system that identifies a set of related documents by comparing the set of structured information with metadata indexed from a set of publications.

System and method for using text analytics to identify a set of related documents from a source document

A vectorization process is employed in which chemical identifier strings are converted into respective vectors. These vectors may then be searched to identify molecules that are identical or similar to each other. The dimensions of the vector space can be defined by sequences of symbols that make up the chemical identifier strings. The International Chemical Identifier (InChI) string defined by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) is particularly well suited for these methods.

Simplifying complex data stream problems involving feature extraction from noisy data

Disclosed is a method, a computer program product and a system for processing documents that contain chemical names. The system has a unit to partition document text and to assign semantic meaning to words; a unit to recognize any substructures present in the chemical name fragments; and a unit to determine structural connectivity information of the chemical name fragments and recognized substructures and to store the determined structural connectivity information in a searchable index. The system further includes a unit to search a text index using at least one of a fragment name and a substructure name and to search the structure index by at least one of fragment connectivity and substructure connectivity. At an intersection of the search results from the structure index and the text index, the system operates to identify at least one document that contains a reference to a corresponding chemical compound.

System and method for the indexing of organic chemical structures mined from text documents

A method is disclosed for use with at least one initial document describing a technical concept suitable for licensing, the method comprising: retrieving a set of intellectual property documents from a data warehouse; partitioning the set of intellectual property documents into a plurality of document categories; classifying the set of intellectual property documents by an industry parameter; constructing a contingency table that includes a listing of industry classifications for each of the document categories, and identifying documents within a particular one of the document categories that have different industry classifications so as to identify at least one potential new licensee industry of the technical concept described in the initial document.

A list of potential licensees of a patent portfolio can be generated from a source patent portfolio. To identify the licensees, the source patent portfolio comprising, for example, all the patents owned by a particular entity, can be created. Next, a list of a set of patents that are related to or associated with the patents in the source patent portfolio is generated. The unlicensed assignees of patents in this set of related patents are organized according to various criteria. For example, the assignees could be ranked based on the ratio of total patents held by an assignee to the number of patents in the set of associated patents held by that assignee. Such rankings can provide an indication of assignees that may be potential licensees of the patents in the source patent portfolio.
