A mobile-device retaining assembly includes a housing for mounting within an opening in an internal surface of a vehicle, a bed associated with the housing and configured to receive the mobile-device and to support the mobile device in an orientation that is generally aligned with the internal surface, and a first armature engaged with the bed and configured to engage the mobile device. The bed moves between a receiving position and a retaining position. The first armature remains stationary as the bed moves through a first stage of movement between the receiving position and the retaining position and then moves between a first disengaged position and a first engagement position when the bed moves through a second stage of movement between the receiving position and the retaining position. The first armature is configured to secure the mobile-device when the first armature is in the first engagement position.

A vehicle interior panel includes an adjustable locator. The adjustable locator is operable to move a panel body after the panel body is mounted to a vehicle body and enables alignment of an aesthetic feature line with a complimentary feature line of an adjacent vehicle interior panel. A post of the adjustable locator can engage a receiver of the vehicle body at a fixed location while a working surface of the adjustable locator exerts a force on a reaction surface of the panel body to move the panel body. The adjustable locator can include gear teeth, a cam surface, ratcheting features, an adjustment rotor, or any combination thereof.

Embodiments of foldable substrates and methods for making foldable substrates for a motor vehicle are provided herein. The foldable substrate comprises a first wall that has a first outer surface. The first wall comprises a first natural fiber-resin impregnated blank section that is overmolded with a first quantity of polymeric resin that forms at least a portion of the first outer surface. A second wall has a second outer surface. The second wall comprises a second natural fiber-resin impregnated blank section that forms at least a portion of the second outer surface. The first and second walls are hingedly connected together.

A slideable armrest, which may form a lid of a vehicle console compartment, comprises a cover and a base slideably connected to each other by slideable engagement between at least one guide and at least one guide groove.

An acoustic chamber formed in door of a vehicle includes a metal door inner panel having an aperture extending therethrough, and a door module secured in the aperture of the door inner panel. The door module includes an indentation and may be made of a polymer or a fibrous material. An interior door trim panel overlies the door module and a loudspeaker is secured between the interior door trim panel and the door module. The interior door trim panel may include a bulge opposing the indentation in the door module, with the loudspeaker located between the bulge and the indentation. A sealing element is secured between the door module and the interior door trim panel for defining an acoustic chamber between the door module and the interior door trim panel. The acoustic chamber enhances the performance of the loudspeaker, thereby allowing a smaller loudspeaker to be used.
