A thermoformable biaxially oriented coextruded polyester film comprising a copolyester base layer B, a first polyester outer layer A1 and a second polyester outer layer A2, wherein said outer layers are disposed on opposite surfaces of said base layer, and wherein: (i) said base layer B comprises a copolyester derived from terephthalic acid (TA) and a second aromatic dicarboxylic acid and one or more diol(s), wherein said second aromatic dicarboxylic acid is present in the copolyester in an amount of from about to 5 about 20 mol % of the acid fraction of the copolyester; (ii) the polyester of each of said outer layers A1 and A2 is selected from polyethylene terephthalate (PET); and (iii) the thickness of the base layer constitutes at least 90% of the total thickness of the coextruded multi-layer polyester film.

Polyester films and devices containing them

Disclosed herein are film, fiber, molding composition and molded article including copolyesters that exhibit improved heat-resistance and thermo-mechanical stability. The copolyester is derived from an aliphatic glycol, an aromatic dicarboxylic acid selected from naphthalene dicarboxylic acid and terephthalic acid, and 5-50 mol % (based on 100 mole % of all glycols) of an additional monomer, bis(2-hydroxyalkyl)-2,2'-(1,4-phenylene)bis(1,3-dioxoisoindoline-5-carboxylate). The aromatic dicarboxylic acid is at least one of naphthalene dicarboxylic acid and terephthalic acid and the aliphatic glycol is selected from C, Cor Caliphatic diols. Furthermore, the copolyesters have crystallinity of at least 10%.

Copolyesterimides comprising bis(2-hydroxyalkyl)-2,2'-(1,4-phenylene)bis(1,3-dioxoisoindoline-5-carboxylate) and articles made therefrom

A copolyester includes repeating units derived from an aliphatic glycol, terephthalic acid, and the monomer of formula (I): wherein n=2, 3 or 4; Z is C&#x2550;O; comonomer (I) constitutes a proportion of the glycol fraction of the copolyester and is present in a range of from about 5 to about 15 mol % of the glycol fraction of the copolyester; wherein said copolyester is semi-crystalline. A process tor making the copolyester includes annealing a copolyester of formula (I) at 20-80&#xb0; C. below the crystalline melting point (Tm) and above the glass transition temperature (Tg).

Copolyesterimides derived from N,N'-bis-(hydroxyalkyl)-benzophenone-3,3&#x2032;,4,4&#x2032;-tetracarboxylic diimide and films made therefrom

A semi-crystalline biaxially oriented film comprising a copolyester which comprises repeating units derived from an aliphatic glycol, an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and the monomer of formula (I): (I) wherein n=2, 3 or 4, Z is C&#x2550;O, and wherein comonomer (I) constitutes a proportion of the glycol fraction of the copolyester and is present in an amount of at least about 4 mol % of the glycol fraction of the copolyester. 

A film comprising a copolyester wherein said copolyester comprises repeating units derived from an aliphatic glycol, an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and a comonomer (M) selected from the group consisting of N,N'-bis-(2-hydroxyalkyl)-bicyclo-[2,2,2]-oct-7-ene-2,3,5,6-tetracarboxylic diimide (BODI) and 2-hydroxyalkyl-2-[p-(2-hydroxyethoxycarbonyl)phenyl]-1,3-dioxo-2H-isoindole-5-carboxylate (DOIC), wherein the number of carbon atoms is the 2-hydroxyalkyl group is 2, 3 or 4, and wherein comonomer (M) constitutes a proportion of the glycol fraction of the copolyester.

Copolyesterimides derived from aromatic dicarboxylic acids and aliphatic glycols and films made therefrom

A copolyester comprising repeating units derived from an aliphatic glycol, an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and the monomer of formula (I): (Formula (I)) wherein n=2, 3 or 4, Z is S(&#x2550;O), and wherein comonomer (I) constitutes a proportion of the glycol fraction of the copolyester; and films, fibers, molding compositions or molded articles comprising said copolyester.
