This disclosure provides methods, components, devices and systems for radio frequency sensing control for an ultra-wideband system. Some aspects more specifically relate to setting up one or more sensing instances (sensing rounds) for one or more respective sensing operations. In some implementations, a first wireless device (for example a controller, an initiator) may transmit a sensing session setup request frame that indicates a set of parameters for the one or more sensing instances. For each of the sensing instances, the first wireless device may transmit a sensing control information element that includes at least a common sensing control configuration and a channel impulse response report configuration. The first wireless device may participate in the sensing operations with at least a second wireless device (for example one or more responders or controlees) during the respective sensing instances.

Radio frequency sensing control for an ultra-wideband system

Aspects presented herein may enable a passive positioning system, which may be a network entity or node, to be trained to identify multiple moving objects based on using training data for a single object. In one aspect, a network entity receives first RF channel data recorded by a set of devices for a coverage area during a first time period. The network entity trains an ML model based on the set of devices and the first RF channel data. The network entity receives second RF channel data recorded by the set of devices at a second time instance that is outside of the first time period. The network entity computes a number of moving objects in the coverage area at the second time instance based on the second RF channel data using the ML model.

Zero-shot deep learning for multi-target RF positioning

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a responding device may receive a signal from an initiating device. The responding device may estimate, from the signal, a channel impulse response (CIR) that represents signal reflections from one or more objects as multiple taps. The responding device may select one or more taps, from the multiple taps, that are within a first time window that starts at a first offset from a reference point and that has a first specified time duration. The responding device may transmit, to the initiating device, a CIR report that indicates the one or more taps. Numerous other aspects are described.

Radio frequency sensing with channel impulse response

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for generating enhanced trigger frames. Some implementations more specifically relate to trigger frame designs that support gains in data throughput achievable in accordance with the IEEE 802.11be amendment, and future generations, of the IEEE 802.11 standard. In some implementations, an enhanced trigger frame may be used to solicit a non-legacy trigger-based (TB) physical layer protocol convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) from one or more wireless stations (STAs). In some implementations, the enhanced trigger frame may be configurable to support multiple versions of the IEEE 802.11 standard. For example, an enhanced trigger frame may be configured in accordance with a legacy trigger frame format or a non-legacy trigger frame format. Thus, when configured in accordance with the legacy trigger frame format, the enhanced trigger frame can also be used to a legacy TB PPDU from one or more STAs.

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for wireless communications over a 320 MHz bandwidth. Some implementations more specifically relate to signaling techniques for indicating the bandwidth of a physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) transmitted in a secondary 160 MHz channel of the 320 MHz bandwidth. In some implementations, an access point (AP) may transmit an aggregated PPDU (A-PPDU) that includes a first sub-PPDU transmitted within a primary 160 MHz channel and a second sub-PPDU transmitted within a secondary 160 MHz channel. In such implementations, the first sub-PPDU may carry bandwidth information indicating the bandwidth of the first sub-PPDU within the primary 160 MHz channel and the second sub-PPDU may carry bandwidth information indicating the 320 MHz bandwidth.

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for data retransmissions in a wireless network. In some implementations, a wireless communication device may transmit a first data unit to a receiving device, may receive a first hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback frame indicating that a portion of the first data unit was not successfully decoded by the receiving device, may retransmit the indicated portion of the first data unit to the receiving device in response to the first HARQ feedback frame, and may transmit a second data unit, different than the first data unit, to the receiving device concurrently with the retransmission of the indicated portion of the first data unit.

HARQ sequences in wireless networks

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for wireless communication, and particularly, methods, devices and systems for physical (PHY) layer control signaling. A first physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) may precede a second PPDU. The first PPDU may be referred to as a PHY control PPDU and may include a physical layer control signaling field (CNT-SIG) that informs one or more stations (STAs) regarding a physical layer configuration they should use for the second PPDU. The PHY control PPDU may enable dynamic subchannel assignments for one or more identified STAs, legacy STAs, or sub-bandwidth operating devices. The techniques of this disclosure may enable sharing of a wide bandwidth wireless channel by different types of devices or different basic service sets (BSSs) assigned to different subchannels of the wireless channel.

Physical (PHY) layer control for wireless local area network (WLAN) communication

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some aspects, two devices may support signaling and messaging designs that support bandwidths that are greater than 160 MHz for ranging null data packets (NDPs). For example, various signaling and messaging designs may support a use of a 320 MHz bandwidth for ranging NDPs as part of a ranging measurement procedure, which may offer greater resolution than narrower bandwidths. The signaling and messaging designs may include one or more updates for a null data packet announcement (NDPA) frame, for a trigger frame, for session negation messages (such as one or both of an initial fine timing measurement (IFTM) frame and an IFTM request (IFTMR) frame), for segmentation techniques for ranging NDPs, or for any combination thereof.

Techniques for wide bandwidth positioning in a wireless local area network

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for generating a secure long training field (LTF). In some implementations, the secure LTF may include a randomized bit sequence that is difficult, if not impossible, to replicate by any device other than the transmitting device and the intended receiving device. For example, the transmitting device may use a block cipher or stream cipher to generate a pseudorandom bit sequence and may select a subset of bits of the pseudorandom bit sequence to be mapped to a sequence of modulation symbols representing an LTF symbol of the secure LTF. More specifically, each of the modulation symbols is mapped to a respective one of a number of subcarriers spanning a bandwidth of the secure LTF. The transmitting device may further transmit a physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) that includes the secure LTF to the receiving device.

Secure long training field (LTF)

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for a link adaptation protocol in a wireless local area network (WLAN). In one aspect, the link adaptation protocol may be used to select a transmission rate option (such as a modulation and coding scheme (MCS)) for communications from a first WLAN device to a second WLAN device based on wireless channel conditions. This disclosure includes several example message sequences for the link adaptation protocol which can accommodate a variety of uplink or downlink data transmission designs, including single user (SU) and multi-user (MU) transmissions. The example message sequences may be used with orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO), and beamformed transmissions.

Link adaptation protocol in a wireless local area network (WLAN)

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for soliciting trigger-based (TB) physical layer protocol convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data units (PPDUs). Some implementations more specifically relate to trigger frame and PPDU designs that support RU downsizing. For example, an access point (AP) may transmit a trigger frame soliciting a TB PPDU from a wireless station (STA). In some aspects, the trigger frame may carry RU allocation information indicating the allocated RU or MRU (associated with a wireless medium) and downsizing information indicating whether downsizing of the RU or MRU is permitted. If interference is detected in a portion of the wireless medium, and downsizing is permitted, the STA may transmit the TB PPDU on a downsized RU or MRU. The downsized RU or MRU includes a subset of the tones in the RU or MRU allocated by the trigger frame.

Resource unit (RU) downsizing

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for priority access on a shared wireless channel. A priority station (STA), an access point (AP), or a network operator may activate a priority access service. The priority access service provides priority access to authorize priority STAs by allowing them to use more aggressive contention parameters for contention-based access of the wireless channel as compared to other STAs. In some implementations, non-priority STAs may be configured with weakened contention parameters to increase or ensure the likelihood that a priority STA will win contention for access to the wireless channel.

Priority access in a wireless local area network (WLAN)

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for wireless communication, and particularly, for generating or receiving a multi-generation physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU). The multi-generation PPDU may concurrently include a first generation-specific preamble based on a first generation of a wireless communication specification (such as that defined by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 family of standards) and a second generation-specific preamble based on a second generation of the wireless communication specification in a same transmission. The generation-specific preambles may be generated based on bandwidth portions of a wireless channel that each generation-specific preamble will occupy in the multi-generation PPDU. One or more of the generation-specific preambles may be modified based on an aggregate bandwidth of the multi-generation PPDU. This disclosure includes several options for modifying one or more generation-specific preambles or data fields to accommodate their use in a multi-generation PPDU.

Multi-generation communication in a wireless local area network (WLAN)

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A station (STA) may receive a null data packet (NDP) on a plurality of subcarriers, and the STA may generate a channel state information (CSI) matrix for each subcarrier of the plurality of subcarriers. After generating a CSI matrix for a subcarrier, such as at least one subcarrier, the STA may scale each value in the CSI matrix using a power-of-two value to minimize complexity. Specifically, instead of scaling each value in the CSI matrix to a value between zero and one using divisions (for example, which may be computationally expensive), the STA may use shifting to scale each value in the CSI matrix. The STA may then quantize the scaled values in the CSI matrix for reporting, and the STA may transmit the quantized, scaled values in the CSI matrix in a CSI report.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. An access point (AP) may transmit, to a second AP and during a first portion of a transmission opportunity (TxOP), a request to participate in a multi-user (MU) transmission. The AP may receive, from the second AP and during the first portion of the TxOP, an indication of intent to participate in the MU transmission during the second portion of the TxOP, the indication of intent including a resource request of the second AP for participation in the MU transmission. The AP may transmit, during an initial period of the second portion of the TxOP, a trigger signal to the second AP indicating a set of one or more resources for the second AP during the MU transmission. The AP may participate, in conjunction with the second AP and during the second portion of the TxOP, in the MU transmission.
