Artificial eye assembly for studying ocular pharmacokinetics

The invention provides compound of the general formula: in which each X independently represents a polymer chain; n represents an integer greater than 1; Q represents a linker; Y represents an amide group; and Z represents either &#x2014;CH.(CHL)or &#x2014;C(CHL)(&#x2550;CH), in which each L independently represents a leaving group. The compounds are useful reagents for the conjugation of polymers to proteins, the resulting conjugates being novel and also forming part of the invention.

Conjugation reagents

Conjugated proteins and peptides

Preparation and uses for polyarylates

Degradable polyacetal polymers and functionalized degradable polyacetal polymers have properties favorable for use in pharmaceutical and biomedical applications. The degradable polyacetal polymers are relatively stable at physiological pH with favorable biodistribution profiles, and degrade readily in low pH conditions. Conjugates of the polymers with drugs, especially anticancer drugs, and methods of treatment of cancer.

A method of forming a polymeric drug formulation in which a water-soluble drug is blended with a water-insoluble tissue-compatible polymer that is miscible in the solid phase with the drug, and with a poly(alkylene oxide), in a solvent system capable of forming a homogeneous solution of the drug, the tissue-compatible polymer and the poly(alkylene oxide), after which the solution is added to a non-solvent for the drug, the tissue-compatible polymer and the poly(alkylene oxide), so that a microdomain-separated solid co-precipitate of the drug, the tissue-compatible polymer and the poly(alkylene oxide) is formed, wherein the poly(alkylene oxide) is blended in an amount effective to form phase-separated microdomains in said co-precipitate.
