A device for separating analytes is disclosed. The device has a sample injector, sample injection needle, sample reservoir container in communication with the sample injector, chromatography column downstream of the sample injector, and fluid conduits connecting the sample injector and the column. The interior surfaces of the fluid conduits, sample injector, sample reservoir container, and column form a flow path having wetted surfaces. A portion of the wetted surfaces of the flow path are coated with an alkylsilyl coating that is inert to at least one of the analytes. The alkylsilyl coating has the Formula I: R, R, R, R, R, and Rare each independently selected from (C-C)alkoxy, —NH(C-C)alkyl, —N((C-C)alkyl), OH, OR, and halo. Rrepresents a point of attachment to the interior surfaces of the fluidic system. At least one of R, R, R, R, R, and Ris OR. X is (C-C)alkyl, —O[(CH)O]—, —(C-C)[NH(CO)NH(C-C)]—, or —(C-C)[alkylphenyl(C-C)alkyl]-.

Use of vapor deposition coated flow paths for improved chromatography of metal interacting analytes

Chromatographic systems for size exclusion chromatography (SEC) are provided that comprise an inlet, an outlet, an analytic column having a first interior volume that has a first length and a first cross-sectional area normal to the first length, the first interior volume containing a first stationary phase, and a guard column having a second interior volume that has a second length and a second cross-sectional area normal to the second length, the second interior volume containing a second stationary phase. The inlet is in fluid communication with the guard column, the guard column is in fluid communication with the analytic column, and the analytic column is in fluid communication with the outlet. Moreover, the second length is smaller than the first length, and the second cross-sectional area is smaller than the first cross-sectional area.

Guard column configurations for size exclusion chromatography separations

A chromatographic device including a coated metallic frit is disclosed. The coating is provided over the fluid exposed surfaces of the frit, thereby covering metallic surfaces to prevent interaction with an analyte in the flowstream. This technology relates to the use of vapor deposition coated frit(s) in a liquid flow path for improved chromatography. More specifically, this technology relates to liquid chromatographic devices for separating analytes in a sample having coated frit(s) within an uncoated metallic fluidic flow path (i.e., the column tube or channel is formed of stainless steel, titanium (pure or alloyed), or some mixture of stainless steel and titanium) and does not include the coating applied to the frit.

The present disclosure relates to a filter. The filter includes a porous element, a compression element and a housing. At least a portion of the porous element is coated with an alkylsilyl coating. The compression element is configured to receive the porous element thereby forming an assembly. The housing has an opening formed therein. The opening is configured to receive the assembly. The present invention provides methods for performing supercritical fluid chromatography comprising loading a sample to be separated by supercritical fluid chromatography onto a stationary phase comprising a spherical, monodisperse, core-shell particulate material comprising a nonporous core and one or more layers of a porous shell material surrounding the core, wherein the particles are sized less than 2 microns; and performing supercritical fluid chromatography to separate the sample.
