A rotary tool ejection technology utilizing air to eject contents from the dies of a rotary cylinder. The dies include orifices positioned therein. The orifices are assembled with porous material. The orifices are capable of receiving air from an internal chamber and delivering it to the outer surface of a rotary cylinder. Air is supplied to the internal chamber by an internal shaft. The internal shaft contains a channel in fluid communication with outlets extending radially outward from the channel to locations on the outer surface of the shaft. The shaft is optionally assembled with a manifold having a conduit. The conduit is positioned for intermittent alignment with the orifices in the rotary cylinder as the rotary cylinder rotates relative to the manifold.

Rotary tool ejection technology

A closure that includes a top panel and a skirt extending downwardly from a peripheral edge of the top panel is provided. The skirt terminates in a plurality of spaced thread engagement flanges for engaging the thread of the neck of a container. The closure includes a polymer-filled channel which connects the top panel to the skirt. When engaged with the threaded neck of a container, the neck is forced into the channel and engaged by the polymer so that the channel and polymer provide lateral rigidity to the neck. This rigidity prevents the neck from deflecting from the forces resulting between the threads and thread engagement lugs when the forces therebetween are increased to the level required to adequately seal the closure to the container.

Retortable packages including plastic closure caps are disclosed. The closure cap includes an end panel and a liner applied to the end panel. The finish contacting surface of the liner has a profile that is generally arc-shaped or torroidal-like prior to contact with the finish.

A closure cap and method of making the same wherein an annular or ring-shaped gasket is injection molded onto the inner surface of a cap shell formed of plastic or metal. The annular or ring-shaped gasket includes at least one radially extending tab integrally formed therewith. A channel in the working surface of a mold core cooperates with the inside surface of the cap to form a mold cavity having the shape of the gasket to be formed therein. The cavity includes a melt inlet and a melt outlet which is in flow communication with a cold well through a connecting portion of reduced cross-sectional area with respect to the cross-sectional areas of both the gasket-defining mold cavity and the cold well.

This relates to a mold for forming closure caps and like cap-like members having a peripheral body with internal threads. The mold is constructed to have an irregular parting line with the result that a major part of the body of the closure cap may be externally defined by that mold member which is moved to an out-of-the-way position when the mold is opened, leaving the injection molded closure cap body free for radial expansion and thus permissible stripping of the closure cap from the core about which it is molded. This construction eliminates the customary ejector sleeve and permits the base mold member to function as an ejector block for directly stripping the molded closure cap from the core. This construction permits mating tapered surfaces on the base mold member and the core which form a seal and do not have relative sliding contact, thereby eliminating previous undesired wear surfaces. This relates to the provision of latch mechanisms for a dispensing closure of the type having a well formed in the top wall thereof with the well being of a stepped bottom construction and there being a closure member which includes a hinge strap and a cover panel with the cover panel having an outline generally corresponding to that of the well and being divided by a transverse hinge line into a cover element and an opener. when the opener is depressed, the cover element automatically swings to an upstanding position uncovering a dispensing opening or openings. Latch mechanisms are provided to retain the opener within the well and to retain the cover element in an upstanding out-of-the-way dispensing position.
