A device may create a list of identifiers for base stations that support a fixed wireless service for a user device. The device may receive a first identifier of a first base station associated with a first attach request of the user device. The device may enable the fixed wireless service for the first base station for the user device when the first identifier is included in the list of identifiers. A method, device, and computer-readable medium are provided for sending, by a customer-premises equipment (CPE) device to a wireless access device via a CPE network interface, an Internet protocol (IP) address lease request, wherein the wireless access device terminates a wireless backhaul connection to a service provider network; receiving, responsive to the IP address lease request, an acknowledge message that includes a requested IP address and a protocol configuration option (PCO) providing identification information for the wireless access device; connecting, via the wireless access device and using the requested IP address, to a bootstrap server device associated with the service provider network; receiving, via the wireless access device, attachment information associated with a network management server and the service provider network; and sending, via the wireless access device, the identification information to the network management server in an attachment procedure using the attachment information.

System and method of acquiring network-centric information for customer premises equipment (CPE) management

A device obtains a data structure from a computing device, and divides the data structure into data segments. The device obtains a list of user devices from the computing device and obtains, from one or more network devices, a respective location and a respective reachability of each user device. The device determines, based on the respective location of each user device, a set of user devices connected to a base station. The device determines a communication capability of the base station, and determines, based on the communication capability, a subset of the set of user devices and one or more sets of the data segments. The device sends, based on the respective reachability of each user device of the subset of user devices, the one or more sets of data segments to the subset of user devices via the base station.

Method and device for updating user devices via a cellular connection

A method assigns a bootstrap server for wireless devices in a machine-to-machine environment. The method includes receiving, by a network device in a wireless access network and from a wireless device, a first request for a bootstrap server identifier. The method also includes providing, to the wireless device, a response including an address for a carrier-specific bootstrap server device. The method also includes receiving, by the carrier-specific bootstrap server device, a request for management server connection information. The request is submitted by the wireless device using the bootstrap server identifier. The method further includes assigning, by the carrier-specific bootstrap server device, the wireless device to a management server of a group of management servers and sending connection information for the management server to the wireless device.

System and method for lightweight-machine-to-machine device registration and assignment

A method, device, and computer-readable medium are provided to send, by a first consumer-premises equipment (CPE) device to a second CPE device in a local area network (LAN), a first request for an IP address, wherein the first request is a first signaling message that includes a first protocol configuration option (PCO) providing first network-centric information for the first CPE device; receive, from the second CPE device, an acknowledgement to the first request, wherein the acknowledgment is a second signaling message that includes the IP address and a second PCO providing second network-centric information for the second CPE device; connect, via the second CPE device, to a bootstrap server device via a radio access network (RAN); receive, via the second CPE device, attachment information associated with a network management server; and send, via the second CPE device, the second network-centric information to the network management server in a first attach.

System and method for Lightweight-Machine-to-Machine device registration and assignment

A device may determine that a user device is to receive an update. The device may determine that the user device is not registered to a network associated with receiving the update. The device may provide a registration notification request based on determining that the user device is not registered to the network. The registration notification request may include information identifying the user device. The device may receive a response to the registration notification request. The response may indicate that the user device is registered to the network. The device may provide, based on receiving the response, an update message associated with the update. The update message may be destined for the user device and may include information indicating that the user device is to receive the update. The device may provide the update to the user device after providing the update message.

Device registration awareness for over-the-air updates

An exemplary system and method avoids unannounced software updates for a connected device by acquiring installation consent from the user for each software update to the connected device. Consent is acquired by leveraging an extended interface application described below, to facilitate notifications from the connected device to the user and receive user inputs indicating consent in response to the notifications.

Application assisted software update for connected devices without a display

A method and system are provided for providing a controlled software update to a group of computing devices. A server distributes a software update over the air to a first group of computing devices, through a wireless communication network. The first group of computing devices is monitored for successful installation of the software update. Upon determining that the software update is subject to a problem or potential problem, a second group of computing devices is identified based on the monitoring of the first group of computing devices. A software update cancellation message is sent through the wireless communication network to the second group of computing devices, instructing the second group of computing devices to cancel the software update in a way that is silent to the user of each respective computing device.

Cancelling device over the air software update

A system may be configured to receive profile identifiers from a set of user devices; identify, based on the profile identifiers, one or more user devices, of the set of user devices, for which updated parameters should be provided, the parameters relating to operation of the one or more user devices with respect to a telecommunications network; and provide, to the identified one or more user devices, the updated parameters.
