A composite article comprises a base layer and an adhesive layer disposed thereon. The base layer comprises the reaction product of a polyamide and an anhydride-functional copolymer, and an ionomer. The adhesive layer comprises a cationic polymer and an adhesive.

Composite article

A polyamide composition comprises a polyamide, an anhydride-functional copolymer reactive with the polyamide, and a poly (ethylene-co-methacrylic acid) ionomer. A pneumatic tire assembly includes an inner liner which is formed from the polyamide composition. The inner liner comprises the reaction product of the polyamide and the anhydride-functional copolymer, as well as the (ethylene-co-methacrylic acid) ionomer.

An article manufactured from a polymeric material filled with fibers has an exterior surface having an impact portion with an arcuate configuration to impart impact resistance to the article. The article also includes a plurality of ribs orientated and configured in a unique manner to also impart impact resistance to the article. The ribs extend from the exterior surface of the article. A fillet having a fillet radius interconnects the ribs and the exterior surface. The fibers of the polymeric material are aligned within the article parallel to a flow of the polymeric material when injected into a mold during a molding process. The ribs are oriented in a pattern relative to the fibers to maximize the impact resistance of the article.

A single layer fuel tank includes a polyamide component, an impact modifier, and a binding filler. The polyamide component has a polyamide selected from the group of polyamide 6, polyamide 6/6, polyamide 6/66, and combinations thereof. The polyamide component also includes up to 5 parts by weight of polyamide oligomers per 100 parts by weight of the polyamide component. The impact modifier is an organic copolymer and is present in an amount of up to 30 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the fuel tank. The binding filler is not covalently bonded to the polyamide and includes at least one of a silica and a cyclodextrin. In addition, the binding filler is present in an amount of up to 10 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the fuel tank.

Single layer fuel tank

A composition for forming an article having an improved resistance to hydrolysis is disclosed. The composition comprises a polyalkylene terephthalate and/or polyester thereof, a triglyceride, an epoxy component, and a plasticizer. The polyalkylene terephthalate has terminal carboxyl groups and hydroxyl groups and internal ester linkages. The triglyceride has at least one acid component with 6 to 30 carbon atoms and at least one epoxy group for reacting with the carboxyl groups. The epoxy component has internal aromatic groups and at least one terminal epoxy group for reacting with the carboxyl groups. The plasticizer comprises an esterification product of a polyoxyalkylene glycol with 1 to 20 carbon atoms and an aliphatic carboxylic acid with 1 to 25 carbon atoms for improving melt flow properties and for reducing hydrolysis of the composition.

Hydrolysis-resistance composition

A new class of biodegradable pharmaceutical compositions useful as sustained release medicamentous compositions, including methods of making and methods of using these compositions, are described and claimed. The method of making these compositions include the steps of: a) dry mixing of a pharmaceutically active molecule with a biodegradable polymer; b) melt extruding the mixture to form a solid solution of the active molecule in the polymer; and c) pulverizing the solid solution to form microparticles such that they can be formed into injectable formulations. Preferred embodiments include pharmaceutical compositions of polylactide-co-glycolide and (&plus;)-&agr;-(2,3-dimethoxyphenyl)-1-&lsqb;2-(4-fluorophenyl)ethyl&rsqb;-4-piperidinemethanol (active ingredient) and a method for its formation. These compositions release the active ingredient at a steady rate over a period of days to weeks. The active ingredient antagonizes the effects of serotonin at the 5HT receptor and are useful in treating various conditions such as, for example, psychoses including schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder, sleep disorder, depression, anorexia, anxiety, drug addiction and bipolar disorders.
