In one embodiment, a controller system comprises a plurality of remote interface modules and a control module. Each remote interface module is configured to be coupled to a corresponding controlled system for receiving first input signals therefrom, providing first output signals thereto, and generating first data signals based on the first input signals. The control module is coupled to the remote interface modules to receive the first data signals from the remote interface modules, and provide second data signals to the remote interface modules. The control module is configured to receive second input signals from a host computer and to provide second output signals to the host computer. The control module is configurable to selectively generate the second data signals and the second output signals based on the first data signals, the second input signals, and configuration equations.

Configurable input/output controller system

An integrated personal information management system is described. In one embodiment, for example, an integrated personal information management system is described that comprises: a receptacle holding at least one paper page that is capable of receiving pen strokes from a digital pen; a digital pen for recording pen strokes when a user writes on a particular paper page; a page identifier for identifying the particular paper page on which the user is writing; and a handheld personal information device in communication with the digital pen and page identifier for processing the recorded pen strokes associated with the particular paper page and displaying the processing results on a display screen.

Integrated personal information management system

A versatile adaptor device to connect together devices having built-in connectors or receptacles for interfacing with other devices is described. Many devices include built-in connectors, which usually consist of proprietary fittings and pinouts/lineouts. The adaptor device connects with the built-in connectors of two devices to enable communication between the two devices. Each end of the adaptor fits physically and electrically with the connectors to join both devices. The body of the adaptor is a double-ended molded plastic part that includes geometry to mate with a particular connector slot at one end and another specific connector slot at the opposing end. The adaptor device may be adapted to connect various different types of devices. For example, the adaptor accommodates connection to an array of brands and models of cellular phone devices at one end of the adaptor and an array of digital cameras at the other end of the adaptor. The manufacture of the adaptors is leveraged because the adaptor employs a minimum common denominator set of circuit lines available to interact with multiple different connectors.
