Techniques for enabling a user computing device to manage a controlled device only when the user computer device is physically proximate to the controlled device are disclosed. The controlled device repeatedly provides codes that change at select times and the user computing device sends the last received or captured code back to the controlled device. The user computing device is enabled to manage the controlled device when the most recent code sent by the user computing device matches one or more codes most recently provided by the controlled device. Additionally or alternatively, the user computing device is enabled to manage the controlled device when the user and controlled devices connect to the same access point. A technique for enabling the user computing device to share, mirror, or cast a screen on the user computing device onto a display of the controlled device is also disclosed.

Proximity-based management of a computing device

Methods and systems for displaying a user interface including a join feature for an online meeting are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes detecting network activity for an online meeting, correlating the network activity to identify a meeting identifier for the online meeting, generating a join request for the online meeting based on the identified meeting identifier, and displaying a user interface configured to send the join request.

Join feature restoration to online meeting

Features to join an online meeting are crucial to successfully conducting the online meeting. Accordingly, embodiments are directed to restoration of such features to an online meeting generated without a join feature or an online meeting in which the join feature was never added or accidentally removed. A client application may be configured to receive an online meeting, detect an absence of metadata associated with a join feature upon analysis of the online meeting, parse a body of the online meeting to detect a collection of one or more URLs, verify each of the URLs with a HTTP get operation, and in response to a determination that a URL comprises an online meeting identifier, recreate the metadata with the URL to generate the join feature. Once restored, the join feature may be presented within an invitation for the online meeting.

Safe parking and retrieval of multimodal conversations is enabled through a park server generating a token and encoding it in an address identifier associated with a parking slot. A client application can display the address identifier with the token as a link in a text-based message or in conversation history items. The identifier encoded link may ensure that the intended call can be retrieved from a given parking slot without being confused with another parked call. If another call is parked at the same orbit, the encoded token does not match, and the park server may reject the retrieval attempt with an error message.

Safe conversation park and retrieval

In one embodiment, a user paired controller communication device may pair with a user paired server communication device. The user paired controller communication device may direct the user paired server communication device to execute a first mode communication session of a multimodal conversation, such as a voice session. The user paired controller communication may execute a second mode communication session of the multimodal conversation, such as an instant messaging session.
