A sprayer actuator, a sprayer, and a method of making the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the sprayer includes an ergonomic sprayer actuator with a housing having an upper portion, a lower portion for fitting over a can, and a narrowed waist portion between the upper portion and the lower portion.

Stable, thickened, aqueous bleaching and cleaning compositions contain hypochlorite and a thickening mixture of high molecular weight polycarboxylate polymer and amine oxide detergent surfactant. Optionally, the compositions can also contain fatty acid, as soap, and/or synthetic anionic bleach stable detergent surfactant. The viscosity is between about 150 and 3,000 centipoises to permit easy dispensing, but still provide a coating action. The compositions are especially good for use in cleaning toilet bowls, bathroom tiles, and shower walls.

The present invention is a passive dosing dispenser for containing a solution which is to be isolated from a body of liquid when the dispenser is at least partially immersed therein. The dispenser is adapted to have a dose of the solution issue from the dispenser in response to the level of the body of liquid being lowered from a first elevation to a second elevation, and to have liquid taken into the dispenser as the level of the body of liquid rises from the second elevation to the first elevation. The dispenser has an internal reservoir which contains the solution, and an inlet/dishcarge passageway which, in use, provides fluid communication between the reservoir and the body of liquid. The inlet/discharge passageway has an intermediate, inverted, generally u-shaped section in which a gas-lock is formed to isolate the solution from the body of liquid. The dispenser contains a gas generating means for providing gas bubbles in the dispenser and passive means for directing at least a portion of the gas bubbles to the inverted, generally u-shaped section of the inlet/discharge passageway to establish a gas-lock thereacross.

Improved phase stable liquid compositions, particularly for use as hard surface cleansers, comprise a mixture of sodium C.sub.12 -C.sub.18 paraffin sulfonate (NaPS) and sodium salt of linear alkyl benzene sulfonate (LAS), terpenes, benzyl alcohol, acrylic acid polymeric thickeners, abrasives and viscosity enhancer compounds. The compositions are viscous, substantially phase stable and provide excellent cleaning of both greasy and particulate soils from hard surfaces without streaking or filming.

A process for making improved synthetic surfactant flakes from a water-wet paste which is dried on a heated roll drum dryer. Hot surfactant flakes are made from drum drying a water-wet paste containing sodium alkyl sulfate (AS), sodium alkyl benzene sulfonate (LAS), and water-soluble inorganic salts, preferably sodium chloride and magnesium chloride blends. The hot flakes are cooled in a low moisture environment having a dewpoint of up to 10.degree. C., e.g., under a dry nitrogen or dry air blanket. The low moisture environment prevents undesirable, insidious hydration and stabilizes the AS/LAS flakes. The stable AS/LAS surfactant flakes can be used to make more economical, more processable, firmer improved surfactant cakes. One advantage is that cakes made with the flakes of this invention can contain larger amounts of perfume than cakes made with comparable AS/LAS flakes cooled above said dewpoint.

Solid cake compositions comprising three essential components: polyethylene oxide resin, a nonsolvent resin coating liquid, preferably a perfume, and a surfactant. The components are mixed to form an extrudable mass and the mass is extruded into a log. The log is then cut or sliced into individual cakes. The compositions have reduced gelling characteristics, which reduce the tendency of the resin to form a gel when the cake is contacted with water. The cakes are useful in dispensers which are employed in the flush tank of a toilet to automatically dispense chemicals to the flush water. The polyethylene oxide resin dispensed into the wastewater minimizes aerosolization of the wastewater which occurs when the toilet is flushed.

A capsule contains an inner core of a fabric antistat/softener material and a melting point depressant and an outer wall of a polycondensation product formed by interfacial polymerization. A liquid fabric conditioning composition containing the aforementioned capsules possesses desirable softening and antistat properties.
