A method for making conformal non-planar multi-layer circuitry is described. The method can include providing a substrate having a non-planar surface and depositing a first conformal dielectric layer on the substrate, the first conformal dielectric layer conforming to the non-planar surface of the substrate and having a non-planar surface. The method can also include applying a first conformal circuitry layer on the first conformal dielectric layer. The method can include depositing a second conformal dielectric layer on the first conformal circuitry layer, the second conformal dielectric layer conforming to a non-planar surface of the first conformal circuitry layer, and applying a second conformal circuitry layer on the second conformal dielectric layer. Successive layers can be sequentially deposited.

Conformal 3D non-planar multi-layer circuitry

A method for making conformal non-planar multi-layer circuitry is described. The method can include providing a substrate having a non-planar surface and depositing a first conformal dielectric layer on the substrate, the first conformal dielectric layer conforming to the non-planar surface of the substrate and having a non-planar surface. The method can also include applying a first conformal circuitry layer on the first conformal dielectric layer. The method can include depositing a second conformal dielectric layer on the first conformal circuitry layer, the second conformal dielectric layer conforming to a non-planar surface of the first conformal circuitry layer, and applying a second conformal circuitry layer on the second conformal dielectric layer. Successive layers can be sequentially deposited. Microvias may provide electrical connections between circuit layers.

A method of producing a non-planar conforming circuit on a non-planar surface includes creating a first set of conforming layers. The first set of conforming layers is created by applying an oxide dielectric layer to the surface, applying a conductive material layer to the oxide dielectric layer, applying a resist layer to the conductive material layer, patterning the resist layer according to a desired circuit layout, etching the surface to remove exposed conductive material, and stripping the resist layer. The process may be repeated to form multiple layers of conforming circuits with electrical connections between layers formed by blind microvias. The resulting set of conforming layers can be sealed.

An X-ray obscuration (XRO) film comprising one or more metallic wire mesh layers and an adjacent layer of indium foil having portions which extend into openings of the wire mesh and in contact with metallic portions thereof. The XRO film can be capable of absorbing at least a portion of X-ray energy thereby creating an interference pattern when the XRO film is coupled with an electronic circuit and placed between an X-ray source and an X-ray detector and subjected to radiographic inspection. The interference pattern can create sufficient visual static to effectively obscure circuit lines in the electronic circuit when subjected to radiographic inspection techniques. The XRO film can be substantially thinner than existing solutions for preventing X-ray inspection with an exemplary embodiment being no more than 5 mils thick. The metallic XRO film can also provide electromagnetic shielding and/or heat dissipation for electronic circuits.

X-ray obscuration film and related techniques

A method for forming a frame attachment interconnect between a substrate and a frame is disclosed. The method can include applying a composite material (e.g., epoxy-glass prepreg) to a surface of a substrate. The composite material can have one or more holes disposed to substantially align with a corresponding pad on the surface of the substrate. A metal disc is placed in each hole of the composite material on top of the corresponding pad. A frame member can be placed on top of the composite material and the metal discs. The frame member can have one or more pads disposed to substantially align with the metal discs. The substrate, composite material, metal discs and frame combination can be cured in a controlled atmosphere that can include a vacuum and a predetermined temperature to create discrete electrical connections between adjacent pads but with each encapsulated and electrically isolated.

High reliability fluid-tight low-profile electrically conductive interconnects for large scale frame attachment

A method and product which provides a thin metal or ceramic plate to the top of a plastic grid array (PGA) as a stiffener to maintain its flatness over temperature during a column attach process, and the columns are used for attachment to circuit boards or other circuit devices. These may be constructed in this manner initially or may be retrofitted plastic ball grid arrays from which the solder balls are removed and, the stiffener is attached to the top, and the solder columns have been added to replace the solder balls. The stiffener is a bonded thin metal or ceramic plate attached to the top of the PGA to maintain its flatness over temperature during the column attach process. An aluminum plate bonded to the top of a PGA results in a significant reduction in warping during a temperature cycle. This allows attachment of solder columns to the PBGA. The high melt solder columns are attached to an area array pattern on the PBGA substrate. This array is typically either a solid or perimeter grid. It is critical that the ends of the solder columns opposite the ends attached to the substrate align precisely with the matching grid of solder pads on the printed wiring board. The purpose of the stiffening plate is to maintain the flatness of the PBGA during the process of attaching the columns to the substrate as well as attaching the component to the printed wiring board such that the columns maintain their alignment over this temperature range.

A radome that defines an axis and has an open end. The radome includes a plurality of plies including a first ply and a second ply. At least one of the plies includes a first sheet that defines a first edge and a second sheet that defines a second edge. The first edge abuts against the second edge to define a seam. A core portion is disposed between the first ply and the second ply.
