Methods are disclosed for treating a subject with a disorder, such as, but not limited to, a) fibrosis of an organ or tissue; b) solid organ transplant rejection; or c) a cardiac disease that is not myocardial infarction or myocardial ischemia. These methods include selecting a subject having or at risk of having the disorder, and administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of isolated nanovesicles derived from an extracellular matrix, wherein the nanovesicles contain interleukin (IL)-33 and comprise lysyl oxidase, and wherein the nanovesicles a) do not express CD63 or CD81, or b) are CD63CD81. In additional embodiments, methods are disclosed for increasing myoblast differentiation.

Matrix bound vesicles (MBVS) containing IL-33 and their use

Methods are disclosed for dissecting a mucosa and a submucosa from a muscularis propria from a region of an organ of a subject, wherein the organ is not the esophagus. In some embodiments, the organ is in the gastrointestinal tract. These methods include injecting submucosally into the organ of the subject a pharmaceutical composition comprising an extracellular matrix (ECM) hydrogel to form a cushion between the submucosa and the underlying muscularis propria at the region of the organ, wherein the ECM hydrogel has the following characteristics: a) a time to 50% gelation of less than 30 minutes at a temperature of about 37° C.; b) a flow viscosity suitable for infusion into the organ; and c) a stiffness of about 10 to about 400 Pascal (Pa).

Extracellular matrix (ECM) hydrogel as a submucosal fluid cushion

Articles and methods involving soft tissue repair implants comprising 2-hydroxybutyrate, 3-hydroxybutyrate, 4-hydroxybutyrate, and/or their conjugate acids are generally provided. The 2-hydroxybutyrate, 3-hydroxybutyrate, 4-hydroxybutyrate, and/or the conjugate acid(s) of 2-hydroxybutyrate, 3-hydroxybutyrate, and 4-hydroxybutyrate may be provided in a therapeutically-effective amount for reducing or preventing microbial infection.

Soft tissue repair implants comprising hydroxybutyrate

Methods are disclosed for inhibiting esophageal inflammation in a subject, that include administering to the esophagus of the subject with esophageal inflammation a therapeutically effective amount of an extracellular matrix (ECM) hydrogel. Methods are also disclosed for reducing esophageal stricture. Compositions are disclosed that include an esophageal extracellular matrix (ECM) hydrogel.

ECM hydrogel for treating esophageal inflammation

Methods are disclosed herein for producing a mammalian acoustic extracellular matrix (ECM) hydrogel. In further embodiments, mammalian acoustic ECM hydrogels are disclosed that are produced using the disclosed methods. Also disclosed is a mammalian acoustic ECM hydrogel, wherein the hydrogel is thermoreversible. Methods of using these acoustic ECM hydrogels are also disclosed.

Acoustic extracellular matrix hydrogels and their use

Provided herein are methods of making an ECM gel from vascular tissue. Also provided herein are ECM compositions prepared from vascular tissue, and methods of use of those compositions, for example in treatment of aneurysms, and for vascularization or re-vascularization.

Vascular extracellular matrix hydrogel

A composition is disclosed herein that includes isolated ECM-derived nanovesicles and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Methods are producing the ECM-derived nanovesicles are also disclosed. These ECM-derived nanovesicles can be included in pharmaceutical compositions, bioscaffolds, and devices. Methods for using these ECM-derived nanovesicles are provided.

Matrix bound nanovesicles and their use

Provided are methods for preparing sterilized, gelled, solubilized extracellular matrix (ECM) compositions useful as cell growth substrates. Also provided are compositions prepared according to the methods as well as uses for the compositions. In one embodiment a device, such as a prosthesis, is provided which comprises an inorganic matrix into which the gelled, solubilized ECM is dispersed to facilitate in-growth of cells into the ECM and thus adaptation and/or attachment of the device to a patient.

Methods for preparation of a terminally sterilized hydrogel derived from extracellular matrix

Methods are disclosed herein for increasing retinal ganglion cell survival in a subject in need thereof. These methods include selecting a subject in need of increased retinal ganglion cell survival and administering a therapeutically effective amount of isolated nanovesicles derived from an extracellular matrix (MBVs) to the subject.

Ocular applications of matrix bound vesicles (MBVs)

An injectable hydrogel composition that forms a porous gel rapidly after injection fro tissue engineering. The composition comprises a biodegradable, biocompatible, gelling polymer, that is optionally reverse-gelling; an Extra cellular matrix (ECM) material and a biocompatible porogen. Methods of making and using the composition are provided. A kit also is provided comprising the ingredients for making the hydrogel.

Biodegradable, porous, thermally responsive injectable hydrogel as soft tissue defect filler

Methods and compositions for treating diseased or damaged tissue, such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease, e.g., Ulcerative Colitis, include tissue regeneration using stem cells or tissue grafts which stimulate stem cell migration to the damaged tissue. The tissue grafts can be extracellular matrix (ECM) material, such as tissue-specific extracellular matrix (TS-ECM). The methods can also include mucosal resection of the damaged or diseased tissue prior to placement of the graft.

Method and composition for treating inflammatory bowel disease

Methods are disclosed for reducing the proliferation of a tumor cell, increasing apoptosis of a tumor cell, and/or decreasing migration of a tumor cell. These methods include contacting the tumor cell with an effective amount of solubilized ECM or a soluble fraction of extracellular matrix (ECM), thereby reducing the proliferation of the tumor cell, increasing apoptosis of the tumor cell, and/or decreasing migration of the tumor cell. Methods are also disclosed for treating a subject with a tumor. The methods include administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a soluble fraction of an ECM and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, thereby treating the tumor in the subject. In specific non-limiting examples, the tumor is a glioma and/or the ECM hydrogel is a urinary bladder ECM hydrogel.
