A laser sensor system including a common optical bench that is configured to receive and process different beams of a high energy laser (HEL). The common optical bench is configured to handle the different beams using a modular set of optical components. Optical components of the common optical bench include a filtering device configured to reduce the power of the beams, a common collecting optical element that is configured to set an imaging position and focal length for the beams, a position sensitive detector (PSD) arrangement that is configured to measure angular and positional errors in the beams, and various compaction optical elements, such as mirrors, that are configured to enable compaction of the laser sensor system by increasing the focal length of the beams.

Ultra-compact, modular laser sensor for tactical environments

A telescope includes a primary mirror, a secondary mirror configured to move along a first axis, and a tertiary mirror configured to move along a second axis. The secondary and tertiary mirrors are configured to move along respective axes in a synchronized manner to focus a beam of electromagnetic radiation from the primary mirror. The telescope further may include an anamorphic deformable mirror configured to achieve wavefront control and correction of optical aberrations. The telescope further may include a first linear actuator configured to move the secondary mirror along the first axis and a second linear actuator configured to move the tertiary mirror along the second axis.

High performance telescope

A single aperture three channel optical system is disclosed. In one embodiment, the optical system includes a front optical group and a back optical group that is disposed in substantially close proximity to the front optical group. Further, the optical system includes a first sensor, a second sensor, and a third sensor. The front optical group and the second optical group receives an object beam and splits into a reflected beam having first wavelengths and a transmitted beam of second wavelengths. Furthermore, the front optical group and the second optical group splits the reflected beam having first wavelengths into a transmitted beam having third wavelengths and a reflected beam having fourth wavelengths. The first sensor, the second sensor and the third sensor receive the transmitted beam of second wavelengths, transmitted beam of third wavelengths, and reflected beam of fourth wavelengths, respectively and produce the coaxial three channel images.

Single aperture coaxial three channel optical system

A method for extending dynamic range of a display that can attenuate brightness to match scene brightness is disclosed. Standard RGB sub pixel filtering as well as neutral density sub pixel filtering is performed. The color addressability of the display is utilized to extend the dynamic range of the emitted energy by more than one order of magnitude with the standard RGB sub pixel filtering. The standard filtering extends the dynamic range of the emitted energy by more than one order of magnitude, while the neutral density filtering extends the dynamic range of the emitted energy by two or more orders of magnitude.

Extending dynamic range of a display

An optical LOS toggle uses two refractive optical elements located in the afocal space of an optical sensor. Optical surfaces of the two elements are shaped appropriately to work in combination with lateral displacements of the two elements such that the LOS angle is shifted. For a prescribed, discrete LOS shift, the optical image quality of the toggle module is corrected by a combination of aspheric shapes and diffractive surfaces on the optical surfaces of the two elements. To maintain performance along any radial direction and simplify fabrication, these aspheric or spheric shapes and diffractive surfaces should be rotationally symmetrical. Image quality is further improved through proper selection of the optical materials used to construct the optical elements.

Optical line of sight toggle module

A system is provided for semi-active laser designation, the system comprising: a guidance and control system having a plurality of wings disposed at an aerodynamically advantageous angle; a plurality of linear sensor arrays configured to measure location of a target, each the sensor array being disposed on a wing of the plurality of wings; and each the linear sensor array providing independent data to the guidance and control system as to the location of the target.

An imaging system includes a first off-axis illumination source for providing a first illumination field at a surface of an illumination modulator such that when the modulator is in a first non-activated mode a zero-order reflected illumination field is directed toward a first illumination blocking device, and when the modulator is in a second activated mode one first order reflected illumination field is directed toward an imaging surface while another first order reflected illumination field is directed toward a second illumination blocking device.
