Embodiments described herein include DRX operations that address impacts of beamforming to current DRX operations. It is recognized herein that the new NR-PDCCH may affect the downlink control channel monitoring in DRX operations. DRX embodiments described herein also address the impact of new NR-PDCCH to DRX operations. It is further recognized herein that, in NR, multiple DRX configurations may be supported, and L1/2 signaling (such as MAC CE based) can be used for dynamic DRX configuration switching. Embodiments described herein include signaling and other mechanisms that support multiple DRX configurations, and switching between multiple configurations. Embodiments described herein also include DRX operations that address the impact of HARQ design in NR to DRX operations. Embodiments described herein further include DRX operations that address the impact of multiple SR configurations in NR to DRX operation.

Enhanced connected mode DRX procedures for NR

A method and system for performing handover in a third generation (3G) long term evolution (LTE) system are disclosed. A source evolved Node-B (eNode-B) makes a handover decision based on measurements and sends a handover request to a target eNode-B. The target eNode-B sends a handover response to the source eNode-B indicating that a handover should commence. The source eNode-B then sends a handover command to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The handover command includes at least one of reconfiguration information, information regarding timing adjustment, relative timing difference between the source eNode-B and the target eNode-B, information regarding an initial scheduling procedure at the target eNode-B, and measurement information for the target eNode-B. The WTRU then accesses the target eNode-B and exchanges layer 1/2 signaling to perform downlink synchronization, timing adjustment, and uplink and downlink resource assignment based on information included in the handover command.

Methods and system for performing handover in a wireless communication system

Methods, systems, and apparatus for supporting uplink Transmission Time Interval (TTI) bundling in Long Term Evolution (LTE) are provided. Methods, systems, and apparatus for signaling, activation/deactivation, and wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) behavior are also provided. In an example, a downlink control information (DCI) associated with a repeated physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission may be received. A hybrid acknowledgment repeat request (HARQ) process information may be determined using the received DCI. A repeated PUSCH transmission may be sent in accordance with one or more time units, the repetition configuration, and the HARQ process information.

Methods for transmission time interval bundling in the uplink

A base station may sense, on a cell using unlicensed spectrum, that the unlicensed spectrum is available for transmission. The base station may transmit, after sensing that the unlicensed spectrum is available, consecutive subframes. Each subframe may include a physical downlink control channel and a physical downlink shared channel.

Wireless operation in unlicensed spectrum

In a wireless communication system comprising at least one evolved Node-B (eNB) and a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs), a non-contention based (NCB) channel is established, maintained, and utilized. The NCB channel is allocated for use by one or more WTRUs in the system for utilization in a variety of functions, and the allocation is communicated to the WTRUs. The wireless communication system analyzes the allocation of the NCB channel as required, and the NCB channel is reallocated as required.

Method and apparatus for providing and utilizing a non-contention based channel in a wireless communication system

A first apparatus including a processor; and a memory storing computer-executable instructions that when executed by the processor cause the first apparatus to: receive, from a second apparatus, information including Discontinuous Reception (DRX) configurations, wherein one of the DRX configurations is a first active DRX configuration and other DRX configurations are candidate DRX configurations; perform Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) monitoring in accordance with the first active DRX configuration; monitor signaling from the second apparatus for an indication that is used for adapting the first active DRX configuration; receive from the second apparatus an indication for adapting the first active DRX configuration into a second active DRX configuration; based on the indication for adapting the first active DRX configuration into the second active DRX configuration, adapt the first active DRX configuration into the second active DRX configuration; and perform PDCCH monitoring in accordance with the second active DRX configuration.

DRX configuration in new radio

A method and apparatus for supporting communication buffer status reports (BSRs) are disclosed. A wireless device may transmit a first buffer status report (BSR) and a second BSR in a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU) to a first base station. In an example, the first BSR may be associated with first data for transmission to the wireless device from at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). Also, the second BSR may be associated with second data for transmission to the first base station from the wireless device. Further, the wireless device may receive at least a portion of the first data from the at least one WTRU. Moreover, the wireless device may transmit at least a portion of the second data to the first base station. In a further example, the transmitting the first BSR and the second BSR may be based on a priority associated with the first BSR and a priority associated with the second BSR.

Method and apparatus for supporting communication via a relay wireless device

Methods and devices for offloading and/or aggregation of resources to coordinate uplink transmissions when interacting with different schedulers are disclosed herein. A method in a WTRU incudes functionality for coordinating with a different scheduler for each eNB associated with the WTRU's configuration. Disclosed methods include autonomous WTRU grand selection and power scaling, and dynamic prioritization of transmission and power scaling priority.

Uplink transmissions in wireless communications

Methods and apparatuses are described herein for Intra-UE Prioritization in uplink (UL) transmissions. In an example, an apparatus may receive first information indicating a first uplink grant associated with a first transmission and second information indicating a second uplink grant associated with a second transmission. The apparatus may determine, based on the first information and the second information, that the first transmission and the second transmission overlap at least partially in time. The apparatus may determine a first priority associated with the first transmission and a second priority associated with the second transmission. The apparatus may then cause, based at least in part on the first priority and the second priority, at least one of: prioritization of one transmission over another transmission, or preemption of the first transmission by the second transmission.

Intra-UE prioritization in uplink transmissions

Methods and apparatus for changing cell range coverage are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may include circuitry configured to transmit subframes of radio frames using a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH), where the subframes are divided into first and second sets. The circuitry may include a first power control loop utilized for the first set of subframes and a second power control loop utilized for the second set of subframes. The first power control loop may set transmission power levels for transmission over the PUSCH for the first set of subframes, and the second power control loop may set transmission power levels for transmission over the PUSCH for the second set of subframes. The circuitry may be configured with a first physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) for a first eNodeB and a second PUCCH for a second eNodeB to simultaneously communicate with the first and the second eNodeBs.

Method and apparatus for data-splitting transmission from multiple sites

A radio device may receive network assistance information relating to uplink channel access procedures, such as channel access types and related listen-before-talk techniques, via layer one signaling or higher layer signaling. For example, information may be provided via DCI, MAC CE, or RRC messaging, e.g,, received in a CORESET preceding the configured PRACH resources. Access procedures may be random access procedures, and may include indication via R.AR messaging. Access procedures may be triggered by a radio access point message, such as a PDCCH order or a handover request.

Channel access with a new radio unlicensed serving cell

A Node-B sends a polling message to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The WTRU sends an uplink synchronization burst in response to the polling message without contention. The Node-B estimates an uplink timing shift based on the synchronization burst and sends an uplink timing adjustment command to the WTRU. The WTRU then adjusts uplink timing based on the uplink timing adjustment command. Alternatively, the Node-B may send a scheduling message for uplink synchronization to the WTRU. The WTRU may send a synchronization burst based on the scheduling message. Alternatively, the WTRU may perform contention-based uplink synchronization after receiving a synchronization request from the Node-B. The WTRU may enter an idle state instead of performing a handover to a new cell when the WTRU moves to the new cell. A discontinuous reception (DRX) interval for the WTRU may be set based on activity of the WTRU.

Method and apparatus for maintaining uplink synchronization and reducing battery power consumption

The present application is at least directed to an apparatus in a network including a non-transitory memory including instructions stored thereon for obtaining a resource for accessing a target cell in the network. The apparatus includes a processor, operably coupled to the non-transitory memory, configured to execute the instructions of detecting plural beams associated with the target cell. The processor also executes the instructions of determining one or more of the plural detected beams meeting a threshold for performing random access. The processor also executes the instructions of evaluating if a physical random access channel (PRACH) resource is associated with the one or more determined beams meeting the threshold. The processor further executes the instructions of selecting one of the evaluated beams exhibiting a reference signal received power (RSRP) above a predetermined value. The processor even further executes the instructions of picking the PRACH resource associated with the selected beam.

Connected mode mobility in new radio

An apparatus includes a processor, a memory; and communication circuitry, the apparatus being connected to a communications network via the communication circuitry, the apparatus further including computer-executable instructions stored in the memory which, when executed by the processor, causes the apparatus to identify an apparatus capability that is an indication of an ability of the apparatus to perform beam failure detection (BFD) for a plurality of cells, transmit the apparatus capability to an other apparatus, receive from the other apparatus at least one message including a change in network configuration; and substitute a second set of cells for the first set of cells on which the apparatus performs BFD based on the change in network configuration so the apparatus capability is not exceeded by the network configuration.

User equipment and base station for managing beam failure detection

Features, methods, and functions for beam failure recovery and scheduling requests are provided, including methods for triggering, canceling, and transmitting beam recovery requests. The scheduling request may be designed to accommodate new criteria for transmission on a grant-free uplink shared channel (UL-SCH) and for putting the schedule request on hold.
