A composition for use in bioseparation. The composition includes a plurality of hollow particles having a siliceous surface. The composition further includes a surface-modifying agent bonded to the hollow particles. The surface-modifying agent includes a binding segment and a reactive segment. The binding segment includes a silyl group and the reactive segment includes a reactive nitrogen group.

There is provided aqueous fluids comprising a mixture of at least two polysaccharides, water, and glass microspheres having pacified surfaces. There is also provided a method for making a fluid the method comprising (a) selecting a plurality of glass microspheres having alkaline surfaces; (b) coating the surfaces of the plurality of glass microspheres with an acid; and (c) combining the coated glass microspheres with (i) a mixture comprising at least two cross-linkable polysaccharides, and (ii) water. The fluids are useful, for example, as a drilling fluid.

A masterbatch composition including glass bubbles dispersed in a blend of syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene and cis-1,4-polybutadiene is disclosed. The glass bubbles are present in an amount of at least 30 percent by weight, based on the total weight of the masterbatch composition. A method of making a rubber composition from the masterbatch composition is disclosed as well as a rubber composition and vulcanized rubber made from the masterbatch composition.

The present disclosure provides a plurality of glass bubbles having an average true density of up to about 0.55 grams per cubic centimeter and a size distribution including a median size in a range from about 15 micrometers to 40 micrometers. A polymer melt additive that is suitable for use as a processing aid in the extrusion of a non-fluorinated polymer. The polymer melt additive composition includes a fluoropolymer that has a long chain branching index (LCBI) of at least 0.2 and a zero shear rate viscosity at 265&#xb0; C. of not more than 10Pa's. The polymer melt additive may additionally include other compounds such as, polyoxyalkylene polymer or polycaprolactone.
